The labor force participation rate in the second quarter of 2025 was 68.2%, unchanged from the previous quarter and down 0.4 percentage points over the same period last year.
In the first six months of 2025, the labor force aged 15 and over was 53 million people, an increase of 542,600 people compared to the same period last year; the labor force participation rate was 68.2%, down 0.3 percentage points.
The number of unemployed people of working age in the second quarter of 2025 was 799,200 people, an increase of 2,200 people compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 148,800 people compared to the same period last year. The rate of unemployment among working-age people in the second quarter of 2025 was 1.73%, up 0.01 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and down 0.33 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Of which, urban areas are 1.47%; rural areas are 1.90%.
In the first six months of 2025, the number of unemployed people of working age was 798,100 thousand people, down 142,400 people compared to the same period last year. The rate of unemployment among working-age people was 1.72%, down 0.33 percentage points over the same period last year. Of which, the rate of unemployment in urban areas is 1.23%; the rate of unemployment in rural areas is 2.05%.
The unemployment rate among working-age people in the second quarter of 2025 was 2.24%, up 0.04 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and down 0.05 percentage points compared to the same period last year, of which urban areas were 2.49%; rural areas were 2.08%.
The unemployment rate among working-age people in the first 6 months of 2025 was 2.22%, down 0.05 percentage points over the same period last year, of which urban areas were 2.44%; rural areas were 2.08%.
The unemployment rate for young people (from 15-24 years old) in the second quarter of 2025 was 8.19%, up 0.26 percentage points compared to the previous quarter and up 0.18 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The unemployment rate of young people in urban areas is 10.23%; in rural areas is 7.06%.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the unemployment rate for young people (aged 15-24 years old) was 8.06%, an increase of 0.06 percentage points over the same period last year. Of which, the unemployment rate of young people in urban areas is 10.65%; in rural areas is 6.69%.
