According to a report by ManpowerGroup, IT workers are having 6 outstanding trends.

ManpowerGroup has just announced the 6 most prominent labor trends in the information technology (IT) industry.

Cyber security is the number 1 priority

Cyber security continues to be a vital "shield" as attacks become more and more sophisticated. 41% of CIOs and global IT leaders identified this as a top priority, while cyberattack losses are expected to reach 10.5 trillion USD this year.

In Vietnam, in the first 6 months of 2025, more than 4,500 fraudulent domain names and 1,000 fake pages were recorded. This makes the demand for recruiting security experts with "combat" experience always "hot" in IT labor trends in 2025.

AI leads the change in IT human resources

Agentic AI - the AI generation capable of making decisions on its own - is moving from the laboratory to reality. It is predicted that by 2028, 40% of enterprise software applications will integrate this technology, automating about 15% of daily decisions.

This opens up a new trend in the IT human resources market: human resources must have all the factors - experience, technical proficiency and business thinking.

Barriers when applying AI

In addition to the benefits, applying Al also poses many challenges. The report showed that 36% of CIOs see high investment costs as a major barrier, 39% are concerned about privacy and legality, and 29% of IT employers rate their staff as not having enough skills to use AI effectively.

In Vietnam, the demand for high-quality AI/ML human resources far exceeds the supply, causing many projects to be behind schedule.

The demand for data centers is increasing

Digital transformation and data explosion are causing the demand for global data centers to increase by 15% per year. Vietnam currently has about 30 large data centers, but it is forecasted that this infrastructure will need to be significantly expanded in the next 3-5 years to meet domestic demand and fulfill commitments at COP26.

The trend of less energy programming revolutionized in IT recruitment

Low-code and no-code are creating a revolution in the IT industry, helping even non-professionals in programming to develop applications and automate processes. This trend opens up opportunities for non-professional personnel to participate in software development, helping to narrow the human resource gap. However, the role of a senior programmer is still necessary to monitor and optimize products.

The shortage of talent - the biggest challenge

A report by ManpowerGroup said that 76% of global IT employers have difficulty finding suitable candidates. The demand for programming, data engineers, security experts... far exceeds the supply, IT personnel in the artificial intelligence sector therefore have more attractive salaries, increasing by 10-50% compared to other positions.

47% of IT staff plan to change jobs in the next half year, causing great pressure for businesses to both strive to find new candidates and retain existing talent.
