Saving people is the greatest joy
Born in 1980, after graduating from Thai Nguyen University of Medicine, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy volunteered to work in Lao Cai - where medical conditions were still difficult. I always think that doctors are born to treat diseases and save people. Saving a sick person, seeing them smile and return to their family - that is the greatest happiness" - he shared.
In any position, Dr. Huy diligently learned, researched and applied many new techniques in emergency care and resuscitation. Every year, he and his colleagues directly treat thousands of patients, many of whom have serious medical conditions such as traumatic brain injury, multiple injuries, cerebral vascular complications, anaphylactic shock, heart failure, coma due to diabetes, etc.
In particular, he is a pioneer in implementing many high-tech techniques at the hospital such as treating thrombosis in patients with acute stroke, conducting cerebral drainage and hemodialysis in the cerebral hemorrhage, cooling down the body by machine, DHF Online blood filtration... These techniques have saved many patients' lives, helping people in the highlands access quality healthcare services right in the locality.

Throughout his work, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy has always considered scientific research and technical improvement as a driving force to improve treatment quality. From clinical practice, he has created many practical initiatives that have been effectively applied in practice.
In 2018, he deployed abdominal circulation duct technique under ultrasound instructions, helping to improve accuracy and safety in diagnosis and treatment. 2 years later, he improved the Hi-Lo Evac endotracheal tube for patients on ventilators, contributing to reducing infection complications, shortening treatment time and costs for patients.
In 2023, his initiative "Improving VAC negative pressure film to support the treatment of chronic wounds" was highly appreciated by the Scientific Council, winning the Third Prize at the 8th Lao Cai Provincial Technical Innovation Competition. The initiative helps reduce treatment costs, shorten hospital stay, and is especially effective for cases with difficulty in healing wounds.
Most recently, in 2025, Dr. Huy continued to research and perfect the initiative "Improving the artery blood pressure measuring airbag to replace the anesthetic pump in under-exposure varicose vein intervention with endovascular laser". This solution helps the intervention process become more convenient, safer and more economical, widely applied and won the Second Prize of the 9th Lao Cai Provincial Technical Innovation Competition.
As Chairman of the Trade Union of Lao Cai General Hospital No. 2, Dr. Huy always promotes his core role in ideological work, organizing emulation movements and caring for the lives of more than 740 staff and doctors.

Those efforts have helped him receive many noble awards: Provincial Emulation Fighter (2020, 2023), Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2021, 2023) and especially, the President awarded him the title of "Excellent Doctor" in 2025.
