Voting is a responsibility and also a source of pride
The family of Ms. Tran Thi Minh Nguyet and Mr. Vu Quang Manh are renting a room in Thien Loc commune, Hanoi. Mr. Manh has been a worker for more than 10 years. Ms. Nguyet transferred jobs to many companies, and is now working for Mitsui Vietnam Co., Ltd.
Ms. Nguyet said that she and her husband were registered to vote at the polling station right in Thien Loc commune: "I am really touched when officials came to ask and register the polling station for my husband and me. This is also the first time I have gone to vote in Hanoi - where my husband and I are working. My husband and I have agreed to come to the polling station as soon as possible, fully implementing the rights and obligations of citizens because it is not only pride but also responsibility...".
Ms. Nguyet's sense of responsibility as well as many workers was built from the concern of departments, branches, and unions over the past time. During the recent Lunar New Year, Ms. Nguyet's family was able to return to their hometown to celebrate Tet by free bus organized by the Hanoi City Labor Federation. The trip home to reunite with family was comfortable and safe, once again deepening the affection of Ms. Nguyet's whole family for the Trade Union organization.
Workers understand the meaning of the election
On March 8, in an exchange with us, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City - said that March 15, the day the whole people go to vote is Sunday, but due to the requirements of order progress, some businesses in the industrial park still have to organize production.
Faced with that reality, the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of the City proposed that grassroots trade unions exchange with employers to arrange for workers to take leave or take rotation leave to vote. "In any circumstances, the right to vote of workers must be guaranteed. Thanks to the close coordination between trade unions and businesses, flexible shift arrangement plans have been built, ensuring uninterrupted production, and all workers have time to exercise their civil rights" - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang emphasized.
Reality shows that from very early on, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City directed grassroots trade unions to coordinate with employers to deploy propaganda work about the election, ensuring the citizens' rights of workers. In which, it is required that grassroots trade unions diversify propaganda forms, suitable to the specific characteristics of shift production. The goal is to make each worker understand the meaning of the election, firmly grasp legal regulations and participate in voting fully, on time, and in accordance with regulations.
In which, the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City organized direct propaganda sessions for Trade Union officials and hundreds of workers at Yamaha Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Noi Bai Industrial Park) as well as workers working at Thang Long Industrial Park. At the propaganda session, workers were specifically informed about their rights and obligations to vote; answered practical situations such as registering to vote at temporary residence, how to handle overlapping shifts, how to record valid ballots...
According to Mr. Thang, through this, those who are directly propagated will become propagandists for their families and workers in the same rented place.
It can be seen that the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City has determined that propaganda work does not stop at disseminating documents or rereading legal regulations, but it is important to help workers deeply understand the nature of the election. Voting is both a right and a responsibility of each citizen. When understanding that each ballot is a sending of trust, a direct voice of oneself to the State apparatus, each worker will proactively learn and carefully consider before choosing.
Therefore, the content of propaganda about elections is integrated by grassroots trade unions into activities to celebrate March 8th, trade union group activities; broadcast through the internal loudspeaker system during lunch breaks; sharing digital documents on online platforms for workers to easily access" - Chairman of the Trade Union of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks of Hanoi City added.
