Prime Minister directs the planning and investment attraction of Lai Chau airport

The Prime Minister requested to review and study adjusting the planning of Lai Chau airport to suit the general development of the country.

On March 9, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired meetings of the Standing Committee of the Government to give opinions on some important contents.

According to the Government Portal, working with leaders of Lai Chau province, after listening to reports, opinions, and concluding speeches, the Prime Minister gave opinions on proposals and recommendations of the province related to: The policy of investing in the Bao Ha - Lai Chau expressway; building inter-level boarding schools in the area; planning and attracting investment in Lai Chau airport; allocating medium-term public investment capital to arrange, arrange and stabilize population; investing in healthcare infrastructure; exploiting rare earths; amending Power Plan VIII; building border patrol roads.

In which, regarding the proposal to soon invest in the Bao Ha - Lai Chau expressway that has been planned and is in the action program to implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Prime Minister agreed in principle to assign Lai Chau province as the managing agency, together with agencies to study and review the route direction, total investment... to build the project, carry out procedures according to regulations, and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and decision.

Regarding the proposal to soon approve the planning and have a mechanism to attract investment in Lai Chau airport, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Construction and relevant agencies to review and study adjusting the planning to suit the general development of the country.

Implemented in the spirit of calling for public-private and local cooperation to implement site clearance; creating conditions for Lai Chau and Lao Cai to develop further, including the low-level economic sector.

With both of the above contents, the Prime Minister emphasized the important requirement of ensuring efficiency and optimizing investment.

The Standing Committee of the Government listened to a report on the implementation of the task of building inter-level boarding schools in land border communes according to Conclusion 81 of the Politburo.

In 2025, 100 schools in 100 communes in 18 localities were started, with central budget allocation and 8 schools in 3 provinces from local budgets, socialized capital. To date, 1 school has been inaugurated and put into use and it is expected that these schools will be completed before August 30, 2026 to promptly serve the new school year.

The Ministry of Education and Training and ministries, agencies, and localities are urgently preparing to start construction of the remaining schools in March 2026.

Giving opinions on the continued deployment of schools that have been started and the preparation for starting the remaining schools regarding funding, site... The Prime Minister requested relevant ministries and localities to continue to closely follow Conclusion 81 of the Politburo; review and deploy the construction of schools in accordance with the specific conditions of each place; adjust and handle arising issues promptly.

The Head of Government noted to prepare well for the management and operation of schools when they are completed and put into operation; requiring to ensure efficiency, thrift, prevent waste, negativity and optimize investment.

The Standing Committee of the Government also gave opinions on a number of contents related to migration and resettlement for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project, and solar power projects enjoying FIT prices (preferential support electricity tariffs).
