More than 20,350 individuals have achieved the title of "Good at public affairs, good at home affairs"
On the afternoon of October 24, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union organized a ceremony to commend typical collectives and individuals in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at home work" of the Vietnam Railway industry in the period of 2020-2025. Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) - attended the conference.
Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that in the period of 2020 - 2025, the emulation movement "Good at public affairs, good at home affairs" in the whole industry will continue to be maintained and strongly developed. There are hundreds of outstanding female collectives and individuals, female officers and workers, who have become the fresh flowers in the colorful flower garden of the industry and the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, contributing to building the image of railway workers who are "disciplinary, dedicated, creative, and efficient", creating a beautiful image of the railway industry.
Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong said that the collectives and individuals honored at the program are not only worthy recognition, but also a great source of encouragement, encouraging women to continue to strive with their colleagues to unite and be creative, contributing to bringing the railway industry to modernity, meeting the requirements of the current and future period of Vietnam Railway with the spirit of "Promoting efficiency - self-reliance - streamlining breakthroughs - creating a future".
According to the Vietnam Railway Trade Union, over the past 5 years, the female railway workforce has changed in both quantity and quality. In the 2020-2025 period, there are 103 grassroots trade unions and 3 direct superior trade unions with a total of 23,874 cadres and workers, including 6,008 female workers, accounting for 25.16% of the total labor force of the industry. Female union members and workers are present in all areas of activities in units, enterprises, schools, and health care, some of whom hold positions in the Party, professional and union.
In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has directed trade unions at all levels in the industry to actively advise the Party Committee, coordinate with the professional sector to effectively implement policies, improve working and living conditions; pay attention to caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of female union members and workers.
Women's union activities at all levels have had many positive changes; in each agency and unit, the implementation of policies for female workers, gender equality issues, reproductive health care, child care and education, emulation movements among female workers and civil servants, especially the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", the movement "Good at work, creative work", women's anniversaries such as October 8 and 20 are increasingly of interest.
Every year, Trade Unions at all levels organize and launch emulation movements "Good at public affairs, good at housework" among female workers associated with the implementation of "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, style, and morality"... in accordance with the characteristics of the unit's situation. As a result, 100% of trade unions at all levels maintained organization and registration and 90% of female union members and workers registered to carry out the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at home work".
In 3 years (2023 - 2025), there were 312 collectives and more than 20,350 individuals achieving the title of "Good at public work, good at housework"; 26 collectives and 417 individuals were awarded, of which 6 collectives and 26 individuals were awarded flags and certificates of merit by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with the theme "Good at public work, good at housework"; 1 individual was awarded a Certificate of Merit and commendation by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework" in the period of 2020-2025.
Caring for, protecting the rights and well-being of female workers and civil servants
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - assessed that the movement "Good at public affairs, good at housework" for the period 2020-2025 of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has really gone into depth, contributing to helping female workers complete their professional skills well, maintaining family happiness; at the same time, recognizing that in recent times, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has effectively cared for and protected the legitimate rights and interests of female workers.
In order for the movement "Good at public affairs, good at home affairs" to develop more and more widely and spread strongly, Mr. Phan Van Anh suggested that the Vietnam Railway Trade Union and all levels of trade unions in the industry continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Conclusion No. 1500b/KL-TLD and Resolution 6b/NQ-TLD, linking the movement "Good at public affairs, good at home affairs" with patriotic emulation movements, maintaining innovation, administrative reform, innovating the trade union operating model and improving labor productivity.
Improve the capacity of female workers at all levels, especially focusing on training and fostering propaganda and mobilization skills, event organization and implementation skills, skills to protect the rights and legitimate and legal interests of female union members; encourage female workers to study, improve their qualifications, and apply technology in their work.
Along with that, pay attention to caring for and protecting the rights and well-being of female employees, especially regarding maternity policies, social insurance, working hours, working safety conditions, a stable working environment, and sustainable income.
In addition, promoting the effectiveness of the activities of female workers' clubs in the region, replicating good models and practical initiatives on gender equality, preventing domestic violence, taking good health care and raising children; promoting propaganda and replicating advanced models, creating motivation to encourage the spirit of striving and spreading the beautiful image of women in the Railway industry "Confidence - Responsibility - dynamism - Creativity".
The conference commended 24 collectives and 80 typical individuals in the emulation movement "Good at public affairs, good at home affairs".
