Programs to care for workers continue to have development steps in both quantity and quality

In the 2020-2025 period, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has led the Trade Union organization and directed the departments and Party Committees to organize the implementation and completion of the assigned tasks.

In particular, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has directed to improve efficiency, continue to improve programs and models of caring for union members and workers such as "Tet Sum Vay", "Union Shelter", "Worker's Month", "Union Tet Market"...

Diversifying programs to care for workers

In 2025, activities to care for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year will be focused on by trade unions at all levels with many new features, achieving positive results, continuing to have progress in both quantity and quality.

According to statistics from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, 11.350 million union members, workers and their relatives have benefited from care activities organized by the Union (an increase of 9.25% compared to 2024) with a total budget of VND 7,800 billion (an increase of 9% compared to 2024).

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor advised and coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front to organize and serve 195 delegations of leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of central departments, ministries and branches to visit, wish a happy New Year and give gifts to union members, workers and laborers, creating a spread in caring for workers' lives, contributing to affirming and enhancing the position and prestige of the Vietnam Trade Union.

Trade unions at all levels have organized nearly 21,000 "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" programs, attracting nearly 6.1 million union members and workers to participate, with more than 2.3 million union members and workers given gifts at the program with a total amount of nearly 1,500 billion VND. In the form of direct collaboration with online, the "2025 Trade Union Tet Market" Program continues to demonstrate innovation and flexibility in the mindset of organizing activities to care for union members and workers.

Activities to support means of transporting union members and workers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet and return to work have been maintained, bringing about a meaningful and practical purpose, supporting union members and workers to return to their hometowns, return to work conveniently, safely, quickly and contributing to businesses stabilizing the workforce after Tet. The number of support for train, car, plane tickets, and organizing trips to and from union members and workers in 2025 will increase by about 12% compared to 2024.

Social activities, welfare care, support for union members and workers, especially union members and workers in difficult circumstances in life, those who have had work accidents or occupational diseases, and those with outstanding achievements in production and labor, union activities are regularly cared for and maintained.

Trade unions at all levels have supported the construction and repair of 1,097 "Union Shelters" with a total support amount of more than 52 billion VND. Lending activities from the national employment fund and capital support funds for workers and laborers have contributed to helping workers improve their income and life.

Workers' Month 2025: Affirming the role of creating sustainable welfare for the Trade Union

Workers' Month 2025 is organized in the spirit of Plan 192/KH-TLD dated February 24, 2025 of the Presidium of the General Confederation of Labor, associated with important political events of the country such as: the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2025.

This is a time of special significance in the country's development journey, opening up new expectations for the working class in the new era; also a milestone for the Vietnam Trade Union to continue to affirm its role as a companion, creating and enhancing the position of union members and workers through practical actions, political responsibility and understanding from grassroots practice.

With the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering in entering a new era", Workers' Month 2025, trade unions at all levels synchronously, flexibly and creatively implemented a series of activities associated with caring for the lives of union members and workers, affirming their role as the only representative organization of Vietnamese workers at the national level and international relations on trade unions, accompanying workers on the journey to realize the aspiration to develop a prosperous and prosperous country.

Implementing the direction of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, trade unions at all levels across the country have focused resources to implement 5 large groups of content, both action-oriented and in-depth.

The program "Creative workers, firmly entering the new era" is a typical highlight of Workers' Month 2025, demonstrating a strong change that contributes to the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. With the 826th Creative Festival, more than 152,000 union members and workers participating, the program has strongly spread the spirit of innovation, initiative and integration among workers and laborers in all fields and industries.

May Dialogue and the Party with Workers - Workers with the Party Forum are two key programs that clearly demonstrate the representative, companionship and bridge role of the Vietnam Trade Union between the Party, the State and the working class. More than 7,300 dialogues were held at all three levels, attracting more than 545,000 participants, with over 26,000 comments contributed on employment, income, working conditions and social security policies.

The new point this year is the combination of field surveys, increasing depth and effectiveness of policy responses. At the grassroots level, many trade unions focus on improving the quality of negotiation and signing of Collective Labor Agreements with many more beneficial provisions for workers, from shift meals to childcare support, clearly demonstrating the capacity to represent the true nature of the trade union organization.

The "Party with Workers - Workers with the Party" forum was widely deployed with 1,339 participants, attracting more than 136,000 participants, contributing many practical opinions to the documents of the Party Congresses at all levels. Sectors and localities have created effective dialogue models such as "Union listens to workers", "Listening - Understanding - Accompanying", and thematic contact with voters between workers and National Assembly deputies.

The care work has been systematically implemented on a wide scale: more than 1.4 million union members have been supported with a total budget of over 265 billion VND; 1,010 Union Shelters have been built and repaired; millions of union members have enjoyed health benefits, studied, and cared for their young children; over 10 million people have participated in vibrant and practical cultural and sports activities.

These results show that the trade union organization is gradually shifting from "individual care" to "building sustainable welfare". Thereby, affirming the role of the Trade Union in building a humane, fair and developing working environment; building a modern, strong and worthy working class in the new era...
