Union officials overcome difficulties, becoming a support for more than 10,000 workers

"Ship" to build a strong grassroots trade union

Born into a particularly poor family in the Tri Ton mountainous area (An Giang), Mr. Vo Thanh Nha's childhood was associated with the days of struggling to make a living with his parents. Having always lived in a disciplined and disciplined environment of the army, the ideal "source" has been fostered, fostering the will to rise up and the sense of responsibility of young Party members.

After being discharged from the army and returning to his hometown, Mr. Nha worked at An Giang Samho Company Limited - a 100% FDI enterprise with capital from Korea, specializing in the production of exported sports shoes. From a warehouse employee to a Lamination department manager, he always tries to overcome difficulties, constantly learn, and is trusted by the collective and recognized by business leaders.

"The Trade Union of An Giang Samho Company Limited clearly identifies: welfare care is not only an immediate support but a sustainable strategy to retain and gather workers. All union activities are implemented in a practical direction, close to needs and long-term," Mr. Nha shared.

Right from the beginning of the term, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union has proactively improved the quality of the Collective Labor Agreement, adding many provisions that are more beneficial to employees than those prescribed by law, especially on wages, allowances, working conditions and benefits for female employees. The effective implementation of the agreement has contributed to significantly improving the material and spiritual life and strengthening the trust of workers in the Trade Union organization.

The outstanding mark of Samho Trade Union is the construction of a direct welfare system to serve the daily life of workers - a relatively new model in FDI enterprises. Many practical welfare projects have been implemented and maintained stably such as: free pure ice water supply system during the hot season; free steam pumping - patching points at the company gate. In particular, in 2025, overcoming many difficulties, the trade union has successfully built and implemented a model to support preferential goods and prices, with hundreds of essential goods sold without interest, helping workers significantly reduce living expenses.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khan, a member of the company's Trade Union, shared: "The welfare booth has many essential items, with prices lower than the market, so our workers can reduce living expenses, especially when prices increase. The union is truly a support for union members to work with peace of mind and stay with the company for a long time".

The union also focuses on long-term care through the "Trade Union Shelter" Fund, supporting union members with housing difficulties; coordinating with the higher-level union to build a "Union Shelter" house.

Mr. Nha always pays attention to visiting union members and workers who are sick, have work accidents, have serious illnesses or are facing sudden difficulties; directly mobilizing, donating and taking advantage of support sources to promptly share. Each year, the amount of care is up to hundreds of millions of VND, helping many workers' families overcome the dangerous period and stabilize their lives.

An example of creative labor in production

Thanks to the methodical, democratic and persistent approach, up to now, the An Giang Samho Company Limited Trade Union has gathered 97.11% of employees to participate in the Trade Union organization, becoming a typical unit in FDI enterprises in the province.

We always identify workers as the center of all activities. When workers are truly cared for, they will voluntarily stick with and accompany the Union and the enterprise, Mr. Nha shared.

Not only devoted to the work of the Trade Union, Mr. Nha is also an example of creative labor in production. From the practice of managing the Lamination department, he researched and proposed an initiative to improve the fabric pressing process, helping to increase output by 400600 meters of fabric/ machine/day, reduce processing, transportation and equipment replacement costs, bringing a profit of 500 to 780 million VND per year. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the People's Committee of An Giang province "Good worker, creative worker".
