On the morning of May 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) coordinated with the City Department of Health to organize a launching ceremony for a health care program for 1 million workers.
According to this program, from now until the end of September 30, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation will coordinate with the City Department of Health and medical examination and treatment facilities to screen 50,000 female union members and workers to serve as a basis for coordinating with the Department of Health to propose to the City Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to spend funds to organize screening for 100% of female workers in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, basic screening according to Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT detailing a number of articles of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment. For cases where workers are diagnosed with the disease, they will be consulted and introduced to specialized hospitals for in-depth treatment.
The program will prioritize female union members, workers working in heavy, hazardous environments, people who have not had periodic health check-ups for 12 months, union members, workers in difficult circumstances, and direct production workers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that the special point of this program is that health check-ups will be organized flexibly right at enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones or at qualified medical facilities and hospitals, prioritizing organization outside office hours, on Saturdays and Sundays to create the most favorable conditions for workers to participate without affecting the income and production activities of enterprises.
The content of health check-ups is comprehensively built, including clinical examination, paraclinical examination, tests, X-rays, disease prevention counseling, early detection of occupational diseases and non-communicable diseases.
For the trade union organization, caring for workers is not only a responsibility but also a feeling, a mission of the organization representing the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. We always determine that if we want workers to be assured and attached to businesses and the city, we must first help workers have good health, have conditions to live and work safely, stably and sustainably. Today's program is also a strong message affirming the change in the thinking of health care for workers from medical examination to disease prevention, early detection and continuous health management," Mr. Thai emphasized.
On the same day, May 30, 1,000 workers in Ho Chi Minh City underwent health check-ups.
The organization of the health care program for 1 million workers aims to effectively implement the Government's policy on organizing periodic health check-ups or screening for people according to Directive No. 17CT-TTg of the Prime Minister "On organizing periodic health check-ups or free screening for people"; Action Program No. 11/CTrHĐ-LĐLĐ of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation implementing the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam on enhancing the role of trade unions in caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers in Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.
At the same time, it is also a practical activity to celebrate the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress and the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City honored to be named Ho Chi Minh City.
