Reliable support
During the fundraising campaign to support the people in the North affected by storms and floods last September, many union members and workers at An Do Duong Company Limited (Thot Not District, Can Tho City) enthusiastically responded when called upon by the grassroots trade union.
Mr. Vu Hai Nam - Chairman of the Trade Union of An Do Duong Company Limited - said that at that time, many workers wanted to donate to support, but some were not familiar with technology, some did not know which channel was official, so the Executive Committee of the Trade Union asked the Board of Directors to donate directly at the company and received support from many workers.
According to Mr. Nam, the large number of workers participating in the donation, although the value is not much, has promoted the spirit of mutual love and support between union members and workers in particular and with the people of the North in general. This is also proof that the activities of caring for and representing union members and workers in the past have really been effective, helping union members trust and consider the union as a reliable support.
Having been associated with the Trade Union for many years and enjoying many benefits, Mr. Bui Hung Thanh - a worker at An Do Duong Company Limited - said that he is not only the subject of care and representation, but also a male union member willing to share difficulties with other union members and workers, most recently participating in donating to support the people of the North.
“At that time, there were many places that launched fundraising campaigns, but the workers chose to go through the company’s trade union because for us, it was the closest and most trustworthy place. The amount of money was not much, but it was all our heart for union members and workers in the northern provinces affected by storms and floods,” said Mr. Thanh.
A place to connect union members and workers
With the number of union members accounting for about 80% of the workforce, the Union of Kwong Lung - Meko Company Limited (Can Tho City) not only stops at representing and taking care of legitimate rights and interests but also strives to create cohesion between union members and employees in the company.
Mr. Pham Truong Dung, Chairman of Kwong Lung - Meko Company Limited Trade Union, said that the company's Trade Union always proactively integrates donation programs so that workers and union members can promote the spirit of solidarity, helping each other overcome difficulties. Through that, the workers will see their roles and responsibilities and have more confidence and voluntarily join the Trade Union organization.
“We always listen to and care about workers in difficult circumstances. Along with proposing support to the higher-level union, we also set up a golden book for union members and workers in the company to donate to help according to their goodwill. Thanks to that, many cases have more motivation to overcome difficulties,” said Mr. Dung.
Returning to work after the pain of losing his wife, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - a worker at Kwong Lung - Meko Company Limited (Can Tho City) - expressed his gratitude to the Trade Union organization and his union members and colleagues.
“The encouragement of my family, the support of the union, and especially the mutual affection of my fellow union members and workers in the company helped me overcome this pain. The union is not only a caring organization, but also a spiritual support, a place that connects union members and workers together. When I return to the company, I will try to work hard to raise my children as well as encourage non-union members to join the union through my story,” Hieu shared.
