On August 11, news from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee said that there is a Plan to implement Resolution No. 16 on developing Van Phong Economic Zone (EZ) in the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045.
According to the plan, by 2030, Van Phong EZ strives to contribute about 30% of the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP), budget revenue accounts for over 30% of the whole province and create stable jobs for about 55,000 workers.
Industrial parks (IPs) in Van Phong EZ strive to achieve a occupancy rate of 75% to 90% for IPs that have been put into operation before 2028, and at the same time form at least 1 ecological IP.
At the same time, the province aims to basically complete the key traffic axes connecting Van Phong Economic Zone with the North-South Expressway, the Central Highlands, seaports and airports.
The traffic system of National Highways and Provincial Roads will be upgraded and expanded; new investment and completion of the traffic system of main axes in the EZ. The province will also complete investment procedures and deploy the construction of Van Phong Airport when conditions are met.
The plan identifies 4 driving pillars for economic growth including: industry, energy, tourism - services and urban - construction.
Focus on developing Nam Van Phong into an industrial center associated with the province's seaport, prioritizing high-tech, processing, manufacturing, supporting industries, logistics and shipbuilding.
Efficiently operate existing projects, selectively attract clean energy and renewable energy projects in accordance with planning and energy transition roadmap.
Tourism - services: Developing Bac Van Phong into a high-quality marine tourism city, a sea service, logistics, finance, trade and port support services, marine economy center.
Urban - construction: Develop a system of urban - industrial, coastal urban, port urban, tourism - service urban in a modern, green, and smart direction; synchronize technical and social infrastructure and connect with urban areas in the province.
In the period 2026-2028, Khanh Hoa will focus resources on deploying key traffic routes; investing and calling for synchronous investment in electricity supply, water supply, drainage, wastewater treatment, solid waste, digital infrastructure, logistics, dry ports, port logistics service centers and public utilities.
Regarding the environment, the province requires strict control of compliance with environmental protection laws for investment projects.
The province will gradually switch to solid domestic waste treatment using modern technology, moving towards ending direct landfill by 2028, striving to form at least 1 ecological IP before 2030.
By 2045, Van Phong EZ is oriented to become a strategic growth pole of Khanh Hoa, the marine economic nucleus of the region; modern development on the pillars of high-tech industry, seaports, logistics, urban areas, services and tourism, prioritizing green growth, innovation, digital transformation and sustainable development.
