After the merger (Kien Giang and An Giang provinces became An Giang provinces), the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation issued an adjusted Plan on developing union members and establishing CDCS in 2025, which set a target to develop an additional 8,000 union members.
Trade union levels have proactively surveyed and grasped the area, actively innovated methods of propaganda, mobilization, admission of union members, and establishment of grassroots trade unions. The whole province currently has more than 116,000 union members/more than 124,300 workers, civil servants and laborers in agencies, units, and enterprises with Trade Union organizations, including 785 grassroots trade unions and professional unions. 226 grassroots trade unions and professional unions have been transferred with more than 18,000 union members (of which, Rach Gia Ward Trade Union has 115 grassroots trade unions, with more than 7,300 union members; Phu Quoc Special Zone Trade Union has 111 grassroots trade unions, with nearly 11,000 union members) to monitor and manage. The whole province has developed 15,000 new union members, reduced 9,000 union members, the actual number increased by 6,000/8,000 union members, reaching 75% compared to the target assigned by the General Confederation; 14 new grassroots trade unions have been established, with more than 2,100 union members.
Chairman of An Giang Provincial Labor Federation Do Tran Thinh said that in 2026, the Provincial Labor Federation set a target to actually increase 15,000 union members or more; 100% of enterprises with 20 or more employees are allowed to establish grassroots trade unions. The Trade Union sets out tasks and solutions in 2026 to increase the rate of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions.
