Workers are more reassured
Mr. Tran Ngoc B is one of 171 workers of Hoa Khanh Textile Joint Stock Company (Da Nang) who are completing dossiers to ask the Trade Union to support suing businesses, demanding more than 80 million VND in salary, social insurance and severance allowance still owed.
He said that workers are more assured when the Trade Union has sufficient legal capacity to represent and protect their rights and has successfully filed many lawsuits. The Trade Union organization is now not only close to workers in social security programs but also has enough capacity and bravery to accompany them in the most difficult times.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of Da Nang City Labor Federation - said that in recent years, the City Labor Federation has proactively used legal tools to directly protect union members and workers. Typically, the Trade Union has represented 192 workers of Minh Hoang 2 Garment Co., Ltd. to sue related to bonuses and severance allowances; coordinated to complete the payment of salaries and severance allowances to 58 workers of Hoa Khanh Textile Joint Stock Company according to the effective judgment; represented 46 workers to sue Quang An Company for social insurance debt...
Most recently, the Da Nang City Labor Federation guided 171 workers of Hoa Khanh Textile Joint Stock Company (Hoa Khanh Industrial Park) to complete dossiers to continue suing businesses to demand wages and severance allowances still owed in the 2nd phase. These are no longer simple encouragement or consulting activities, but the direct participation of the Trade Union organization in the process of protecting the legitimate rights of workers.
Proposal to study the development of the Labor Procedure Law
In addition to specific cases, from the beginning of 2026 to now, the Da Nang City Labor Federation has also organized dialogues and legal advice for over 1,000 union members, guiding dozens of cases to carry out complaint, mediation and lawsuit procedures related to salaries, social insurance and other rights. These figures reflect a remarkable shift in Da Nang's trade union activities.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, Da Nang Trade Union levels continue to take union members and workers as the center, strengthen representation, care and protection of rights. However, disputes over social insurance, severance allowances, wages and labor contracts are tending to increase.
Currently, legal regulations on resolving collective and individual labor disputes are stipulated in the 2019 Labor Code and the Civil Procedure Code, the initiation procedures are still cumbersome and inadequate, and the legal proceedings for resolving labor disputes are still considered civil disputes, and the time for carrying out procedures and the dispute resolution process is still long.
Therefore, in a recent working session with the Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Da Nang City Labor Federation proposed that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour coordinate with the Supreme People's Court to develop a Labor Procedure Law to submit to the National Assembly to unify regulations on procedures for resolving collective and individual labor disputes in the coming time.
This is not only a proposal originating from Da Nang's practice but also reflects the common needs of many localities across the country today.
