24,000 Tet gifts for union members and workers
On the evening of February 4, the Da Nang City Labor Federation organized a Tet gift giving ceremony to union members and workers in difficult circumstances at Hoa Cam Workers' Housing Area.
Here, Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation presented 85 gifts, each gift worth 1 million VND in cash, and 400 shopping vouchers at the "Trade Union Tet Market" session, each voucher worth 100 thousand VND, to 85 union members and workers in difficult circumstances working at Hoa Cam Industrial Park.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh said: these gifts are part of the program to accompany union members and workers in difficult circumstances organized by the Da Nang City Labor Federation on the occasion of the Binh Tuat Lunar New Year 2026.
This program has been and is giving 24,000 gifts, each gift worth 1 million VND, totaling 24 billion VND to union members and workers. Of these 24 billion VND, 16 billion VND is from the trade union finances of Da Nang city, and 8 billion VND is from the budget of Da Nang city.
Beneficiaries are union members and workers at grassroots trade unions and trade unions under the Da Nang City Labor Federation who are in difficult circumstances, have low incomes; have suffered from labor accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses; affected or damaged by natural disasters and storms.
Union members and workers have reduced working hours, lost jobs, owed salaries; union members and workers belonging to policy families; workers who have not had the conditions to return to their hometowns for Tet for many years, workers who do not return to their hometowns to work, labor, and produce during Tet...
For cases of union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances, based on the proposals of commune and ward trade unions or grassroots trade unions, the Da Nang City Labor Federation shall consider each specific case and implement expenditures according to the regulations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Also according to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, the Da Nang City Labor Federation has specifically allocated more than 22,000 gifts for commune and ward trade unions, and grassroots trade unions to conduct consideration and propose to the City Labor Federation for support. At the same time, it is reserved to give to particularly difficult cases and unexpected difficult cases.
Tet gifts for 200 grassroots trade union officials
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, in addition to 24,000 gifts for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, the Da Nang City Labor Federation also gave gifts to encourage 200 grassroots trade union officials and grassroots trade unions who have made many contributions to trade union activities, each gift worth 1 million VND.
These are grassroots trade union officials, grassroots trade unions whose families face many difficulties; themselves or their spouses, children suffer from occupational diseases, serious illnesses, and have to be treated for many days due to illness.
Grassroots trade union officials have low incomes due to difficult production and business, reduced working hours, prolonged wage arrears, damage caused by storms, floods, epidemics, and unexpected events; stay in the city, do not return to their hometowns for Tet to work, work, and produce. Grassroots trade union officials are single mothers raising young children; are subjects of poor and near-poor households.
Through this activity, we want to recognize the contributions as well as encourage 200 grassroots trade union officials and grassroots trade unions to overcome difficulties, continue to contribute to trade union activities and the workers' movement, and continue to be a solid support, so that union members can place their trust. Gifts will be sent directly to each trade union official at their workplace" - Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh said.
In addition, the City Labor Federation organizes delegations to visit and wish Tet to retired trade union officials; support retired trade union officials with critical illnesses; organize meetings with trade union officials through periods.
