In the past 2 days, the temperature in the North and Central regions has tended to increase due to weakening cold air. However, the weather forecast for these areas is about to change due to the impact of the northeast monsoon.
According to Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the upcoming cold air wave will be moderately to strong; causing rain in many places in the North and Central regions.

The Northern region from the night of February 6th - 9th, is forecast to have rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places. From February 7th, the weather will turn cold, especially in the period from February 8th - 9th, there is a possibility of severe cold, with dangerous cold in some mountainous areas.
The lowest temperature in the upcoming cold air mass is commonly 12 - 15 degrees C, the highest is commonly 15 - 18 degrees C" - Mr. Lam said.
According to the Deputy Director of the meteorological agency, the area from Ha Tinh province to Da Nang city and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai from October 7 - 10, it is forecast to have rain, showers, locally with moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Forecasting further, Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam also said that around February 11, the northern provinces may be affected by a wave of weak cold air intensifying to the east.
The Northern region is cloudy, with rain in some places, early morning fog and light fog appear, especially the coastal area, the Northern Delta region is likely to have light rain" - Mr. Lam said.
According to Mr. Lam, the lowest temperature in this period is commonly 13 - 16 degrees C; sunny at noon and in the afternoon in the Northeast region and stronger sunshine in the Northwest region. The highest temperature in the Northeast region is commonly from 19 - 22 degrees; in the Northwest region 23 - 26 degrees C.
Central region from February 11 - 13, night and morning with rain, noon and afternoon with reduced rain; the lowest temperature in the area from Thanh Hoa province - Hue city is commonly 16 - 19 degrees C, the highest is commonly 23 - 26 degrees C.
Regarding the temperature trend in February, according to the meteorological agency, the national average temperature is generally approximately equal to the multi-year average of the same period, especially in the Northern region, it is 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the multi-year average, and in some places about 1.5 degrees Celsius higher.
Cold air in February is likely to be weaker than the multi-year average. However, there will still be short-term severe cold and frost in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa - Nghe An provinces, possibly accompanied by frost in high mountainous areas.
Previously, in January, there were 4 cold spells on the night of January 1st, January 5th, January 21st and January 31st. Among them, 2 cold spells on January 5th and January 21st caused 2 widespread severe cold spells. It is noteworthy that the lowest temperature in the cold spell from January 21st in high mountainous areas was below 3 degrees Celsius; especially in Mau Son (Lang Son), the temperature dropped to -0.1 degrees Celsius on January 22nd.
