Caring for disadvantaged workers
In Thuan An ward (HCMC), Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd. is one of the enterprises with a large number of workers, with over 7,500 people. This is an export sports shoe manufacturing company, with mainly female workers. Caring for workers and laborers is always focused on by the company and the grassroots Trade Union (CĐCS).
Attached to the business for more than 10 years, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Dao (41 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) shared: "In the context of many difficulties, the company continues to maintain jobs and income for employees, currently, I have an income of more than 8 million VND per month. The grassroots trade union has actively supported workers who unfortunately suffer from serious illnesses. I myself, unfortunately, have been encouraged and supported by the trade union. Every year, the trade union always has gifts, additional support and encouragement so that I can gradually overcome difficulties.
The grassroots trade union of Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd. said that Ms. Dao is one of the union members who was cared for by the unit during Workers' Month 2026. The Executive Committee of the grassroots trade union and representatives of the company visited boarding houses to visit and support giving gifts to cases of workers who unfortunately encountered difficulties, had accidents, and suffered from serious illnesses.
The Trade Union organized free medical examinations and screening for about 350 union members; awarded 7,500 packs of nutritional supplements in the hot season; and organized sports festivals with the participation of 700 workers, contributing to improving health and uniting the collective.
Supporting workers in caring for and raising young children
To support workers with young children, the company has invested in building a kindergarten near the factory. The educational facility is named Vinh Hy Kindergarten with 10 classrooms and cares for and raises about 250 children of workers. Workers working at the company with young children can send their children to study here without paying tuition fees. The kindergarten helps workers save on childcare costs from 900,000 VND to 1.2 million VND/month. Taking children to school is also convenient when the school is right next to the business. The school also takes care of children by working hours, and workers can feel secure in production.
When workers' children go to high school, every year the grassroots trade union has a policy to encourage students who are children of workers overcoming difficulties to study well. Recently, the grassroots trade union of Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd. organized the program "Childhood Festival" for children of workers and laborers. At the program, the grassroots trade union presented scholarships to more than 1,200 children of workers and laborers working at the company. Each child was awarded a scholarship of 300,000 VND and a certificate of merit.
The grassroots trade union also organizes many activities for workers' children to have fun such as: sauna, painting statues, sand painting, tug-of-war, hitting piggy banks, throwing cans, stealing flags, kicking balls into goal, sack jumping, blindfolded duck catching, throwing balls into buckets.
Mr. Mai Thanh Tuyen - Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - shared: "The Trade Union also accompanies workers in raising their children, thereby encouraging and motivating workers' children to strive to study and become good children and excellent students.
