At the meeting, Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of Vietnam Railway Trade Union - assessed that this is a visit and working trip of special significance, in the context that Vietnam and China have upgraded their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
According to Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong, at the 10th Conference, the Central Executive Committee agreed on the policy of investing in the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis, identifying this as a political task and prioritizing investment resources for early implementation. “This is a great opportunity for cooperation and development of the railways of the two countries,” said Mr. Phuong.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union said that the trade union plays an important role as a bridge between employers and employees. Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong expressed his hope that the cooperation between the two trade unions will further promote the development of the railways of the two countries, as well as the relationship between the two peoples.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union shared the outstanding activities of the unit in recent times. Currently, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has 100 grassroots trade unions and 3 upper-level trade unions with nearly 24,000 union members and workers. Union members account for 99% of the total number of workers.
Vietnam Railway Trade Union is one of the first few national trade unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, with the main functions and tasks of caring for, representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; improving and enhancing working and living conditions for workers.
Mr. Trinh Tien Dong - Chairman of the General Federation of Railway Trade Unions of China - said that the trade union activities of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union have many similarities with the General Federation of Railway Trade Unions of China. Both sides have received attention from the leaders of the two countries.
“The Vietnam Railway Trade Union has many activities for us to learn from, including the work of caring for and protecting workers' rights,” said Mr. Trinh Tien Dong.
The leaders of the China Railway Trade Union expressed their hope that the relationship between the two sides will become increasingly better in the future.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest, such as activities to care for, represent and protect union members and workers; welfare regimes for union members and workers; increasing workers' income; the development of the two countries' railways over the years...
