Labor relations are still potentially complex
Since the beginning of the year, Gia Lai province has established 74/99 industrial clusters with a total area of about 3,420ha. In the first 6 months of the year, there were 60 industrial production projects put into operation with a total investment capital of about 22,280 billion VND.
The province also attracted 161 new projects with a total capital of more than 163,135 billion VND, nearly 3.5 times higher than the same period. The whole province has 1,929 newly established enterprises, with a total registered capital of 28,488 billion VND, an increase of 57%.
Despite being affected by the world economic situation and facing many difficulties, the province's key manufacturing enterprises in the fields of wood processing, textiles, footwear and seafood still maintain production and business activities, ensuring jobs for workers (NLĐ).
At agencies, units and businesses, the implementation of labor laws, policies on salaries, social insurance (BHXH), and health insurance (BHYT) has many positive changes. The legitimate rights and interests of employees are basically guaranteed.
However, labor relations in the non-state economic sector still contain many complex factors. Some businesses still owe salaries and social insurance for a long time, leading to collective labor disputes directly related to workers' rights.
Thuan Duc 4 Co., Ltd., Phuc Thinh Binh Dinh Co., Ltd. and FLC Quy Nhon Golf & Resort Company owe salaries and prolonged social insurance debts. Green Car Taxi Transport Company owes salaries and deposits of employees. At Olam Gia Lai Co., Ltd. Branch, a collective work stoppage occurred of 133 workers, requesting businesses to adjust the unit price of contracted salaries.
The Trade Union has advised on 128 cases, directly supported 24 workers in complaints and lawsuits, thereby helping to recover more than 172 million VND in salaries and regimes owed or paid improperly.
Trade union stands side by side with workers
Activities to care for union members and workers continue to be effectively implemented. In the first 6 months of the year, 2,616 union members and workers were supported with a total budget of nearly 3 billion VND.
Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy said that the Provincial Trade Union always closely monitors the implementation of salary and bonus regimes; promptly provides legal support, coordinates dialogues right at the grassroots level to resolve labor disputes, prevent hot spots from arising, and contribute to ensuring security and order in the area. The work of caring for the material and spiritual life of workers is deployed synchronously; promptly stabilizing the ideology of union members when labor relations incidents occur at the grassroots level. Ms. Thuy said that in the coming time, the Provincial Trade Union will continue to participate in building, deploying, supervising, and inspecting the implementation of policies and laws related to workers, especially policies on salaries, social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance. Establish a team to supervise the compliance with labor laws at non-state sector enterprises.
Strengthen legal advice and support for union members and workers; strive for 100% of union members' cases resolving labor disputes at the Court to have Trade Union representatives participate and support. Continue to implement welfare and job creation programs to create jobs and increase income for workers; visit and support union members and workers in difficult circumstances...
