Many union members face housing difficulties
Nearly 20 years working as a worker at Rapexco - Dai Nam Co., Ltd., Ms. Pham Thi Thu Thanh still does not have her own home.
Both husband and wife are workers, with a total income of about 14.3 million VND/month, but they have to raise two children who are in school and support their elderly mother-in-law.
Each month, her family spends about 3 million VND on rent and electricity and water, nearly 4 million VND on tuition for her children, and about 6 million VND on living expenses.
After covering essential expenses, the family almost no longer has the ability to accumulate to build a house. The family has more than 65m2 of residential land in Nam Nha Trang ward and plans to build a level 4 house worth about 270 million VND.
After saving and borrowing more than 200 million VND, Ms. Thanh hopes to receive 60 million VND from the Trade Union Shelter Fund to complete the house.
Similarly, Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Mai, a worker at Innoflow NT Co., Ltd., lives with her elderly parents and two young children. An income of 8.3 million VND/month must cover 5 people.
Being given a 103m2 land plot in Xuan Hai commune by her parents, she plans to build a level 4 house with an area of 40m2 with a total cost of about 200 million VND. The family has prepared and borrowed 140 million VND, and the remaining 60 million VND is expected to be supported by the Trade Union Shelter Fund.

From this funding source, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation has supported the construction of 117 new houses and repaired 34 houses for union members in difficult circumstances, with a total budget of nearly 6.88 billion VND.
According to the leader of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, the program not only provides material support but also adds motivation for union members to overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, feel secure in working and be attached to businesses for a long time.
Each completed house is an additional worker family realizing the dream of settling down, creating a foundation for sustainable life development.
