Hanoi plans to build a 2,000 billion VND theater, 9,000m2 wide

HOÀI ANH |

Hanoi - In the period 2026-2030, the city will build a theater of about 9,000 m2 on Vo Thi Sau street with an investment of about 2,000 billion VND.

The Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee has just issued Action Program No. 08-CTr/TU to implement Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture.

The action program clearly states that the guiding viewpoint is to identify people in the central position of the socio-economic and cultural development strategy, which must be placed on par with the economy, politics, and society in Hanoi's development strategy.

From that point of view, Hanoi city focuses on developing the Capital's culture in the direction of "Culture - Identity - Creativity - Integration - Connection", which is a core consistent value, internal resources and soft power, the foundation for forming bravery, intelligence and development motivation. The culture and people of the Capital are placed on the foundation of national value systems, cultural value systems, family value systems and Vietnamese human standards...

The city also focuses on developing the cultural market, developing the cultural industry associated with the development of the intellectual economy and the creative ecosystem in a direction that is rich in identity, professional, and modern...

In the list of key projects, Hanoi will build a city theater on Vo Thi Sau street (Bach Mai ward). The theater is about 9,000m2 wide with 2,000 - 2,500 seats, with a total investment of about 2,000 billion VND.

Currently, Hanoi said it is managing 6 theaters, but the existing locations were invested 20 years ago, not meeting technical standards or the space is too cramped, not meeting the requirements of industrialization of performing arts.

On the other hand, people, especially young people, are increasingly demanding high-end cultural and artistic entertainment and community activities. Therefore, investing in larger-scale theaters than existing theaters will provide more locations for people to access high-value music.

In addition, the city will also expand and restore the historical space of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic; build a city cultural center on the Red River landscape axis; build a multi-purpose gymnasium and accommodation for athletes at My Dinh high-class athletes' area; symbolic works of the Capital in the Bac Cau area;...
