Developing more than 171,000 union members after 4 terms
The Hai Phong Economic Zone Union was established on June 17, 2005 with the original name of Hai Phong Export Processing and Industrial Zones Union, by 2009, the union of Hai Phong Export Processing and Industrial Zones was changed to Hai Phong Economic Zone Union. From the first day of establishment with 8 grassroots trade unions and more than 2,900 members, after 20 years of development and growth, up to now, Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union manages 360 grassroots trade unions with more than 174,000 members (an increase of 352 grassroots trade unions and more than 171 thousand members compared to the first day of establishment.
In the care and protection of legitimate legal rights of union members and workers, Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union is one of the bright spot of the city. Periodic dialogue model and grassroots democracy regulation are maintained effectively with 82.5% of enterprises to organize labor conferences and 94.3% maintain periodic dialogue. 79.5% of enterprises have agreements, the type B or higher rate reaches 85.8%. In particular, the negotiation and successful signing of many businesses with the participation of 30 Korean businesses, is the most participating business agreement in the country.
The work of caring for the material and spiritual lives and welfare of union members has many innovations and practicals, supporting tens of thousands of disadvantaged workers each year... With achievements in the 20-year journey of construction and development, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President.
Focus on taking care of workers' lives
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Dong Lao Federation of Hai Phong affirmed the position and important role of Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union in the movement of cadres and workers and union activities. Leaders of the Labor Union of Hai Phong City proposed that the Trade Union of the Economic Zone will continue to put workers in the central position, with the care, representative, practical, profound and effective protection. In particular, promoting dialogue, collective negotiation, focus content on salary, working conditions, labor safety.
The Economic Zone Trade Union focuses on developing union members and establishing strong grassroots unions in the non-state sector, considering this a vital task to expand coverage and strengthen the strength of the trade union organization. Propaganda and mobilization work is creative, flexible and convincing.
The trade union builds a team of cadres, especially grassroots trade union chairmen, who are dedicated, courageous, intellectual, negotiating and dialogue skills, know how to listen, gather, and lead to make trade union activities at the grassroots level more effective and flexible. Along with that, be proactive and creative in the methods of operation, increase the application of technology and digital transformation, bring trade union activities closer to workers through digital platforms...
At the ceremony, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation presented the outline "Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union: Solidarity - innovation - creativity - efficiency - development for the rights of union members and workers. On this occasion, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union commended 25 collectives with many contributions in 20 years of building and developing the Zone Trade Union and 95 outstanding workers in 2024.
