Currently, the entire banking industry has about 360,000 employees, including 201,000 union members with 893 grassroots unions. After reorganizing the apparatus according to Decision 128/QD-TLD, the NHVN Trade Union currently has 2 thematic committees with 23 cadres. The Standing Committee has approved and issued a plan to organize trade union congresses at all levels and the 8th Congress of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union.
During the implementation process, in addition to the achieved results, there are still some difficulties and problems such as streamlining the apparatus leading to shortage of planning staff, urgent personnel preparation progress and organization of the Congress, regulations on re-election age affecting personnel arrangement, and at the same time, there are currently no specific instructions from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the budget for organizing the Congress, making it difficult for units to build estimates.
The Vietnam Bank Trade Union recommends that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor soon issue detailed instructions on personnel work as well as content and spending norms for the Congresses of trade unions at all levels, and at the same time pay attention to the orientation of perfecting the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union to ensure regular and continuous leadership and direction, and adjust the method of organizing congresses (conferences) in accordance with reality.
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade in proactively implementing the plan for the Trade Union Congress at all levels, while also implementing well the work of arranging and streamlining the apparatus in accordance with the policies and resolutions of the Central Committee and the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
At the same time, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that the banking sector, with a large, highly qualified and specific workforce associated with macroeconomic stability, needs to further promote the role of trade unions in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, as well as in accompanying the industry's professional staff in performing political tasks.
Regarding the preparation for the 2025-2030 Congress, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor suggested that the Vietnam Bank Trade Union focus on doing a good job of personnel work, ensuring inheritance, stability and development, selecting union officials with heart, vision and capacity to meet the requirements in the new situation; focus on improving the quality of congress documents, reflecting the practical activities of the banking industry's trade union, setting feasible directions and tasks, associated with the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang also noted the need to promote propaganda work before, during and after the congress to create a vibrant and united atmosphere throughout the system, considering this an extensive political activity of union members and workers.
In addition, the Vietnam Bank Trade Union needs to continue to innovate its content and methods of operation, promote its role as a bridge between union members and workers with Party committees and authorities, contributing to building a strong trade union organization, affirming the role and position of the Trade Union in the political system and in social life.
The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union fully received the instructions, affirming that it will concretize them into appropriate action programs, focusing on completing personnel work and documents, ensuring progress and quality according to requirements.
At the same time, the entire VGCL system is determined to unite, unify, and strive to successfully implement the plan, aiming to successfully organize the 8th Congress of the VGCL, term 2025 - 2030, contributing practically to the overall success of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
