Safety is paramount
According to the People's Committee of Phu Yen province, in 2024, the whole province recorded 19 labor accidents at facilities with labor relations, causing 3 people to be seriously injured and 16 people to be slightly injured. Accidents mainly occurred in areas such as industrial garment and industrial glass manufacturing. In addition, there were 14 work accidents that occurred in areas without labor relations, killing 7 people and injuring 7 others.
The main reason was determined to be that the employer had not developed a safe working process and measures, was not fully equipped with labor protection equipment, and had not organized training on labor safety. Some machinery and equipment in factories and workshops have not yet met safety standards when put into operation.
Faced with this situation, Phu Yen province has directed enterprises and production facilities in the area to strictly implement risk prevention measures and strictly control labor safety. In particular, the key requirement is to review and assess potential risks from machinery and equipment with strict safety requirements; organize periodic health check-ups and fully equip workers with protective gear.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, a worker at Concept Eyewear Manufacture Vietnam Co., Ltd., shared: "The company focuses on equipping protective gear to minimize incidents during work such as hand spikes, sharp objects falling on the feet... Every month, the workers and I are given periodic health check-ups to detect and treat labor-related diseases early."
At Phu Yen Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, labor safety is always a top priority. Mr. Nguyen Tan Thuan - Deputy General Director of the Company said: "We regularly organize training courses and coachings on occupational safety and hygiene, in addition to being fully equipped with protection and closely monitoring work processes. Thanks to that, the company has not had serious incidents for many years."
Accompanying workers
Currently, Phu Yen province has nearly 53,000 workers, civil servants, and laborers working at agencies, units, industrial parks and clusters and cooperatives.
According to Mr. Ngo Hoang Vi - Vice Chairman in charge of Phu Yen Economic Zone Trade Union, in response to the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene in 2025, the Economic Zone Trade Union has organized many propaganda programs, legal advice, and direct dialogue to listen and promptly resolve recommendations and aspirations of workers.
In addition, grassroots trade unions also visit and give gifts to union members in difficulty, those who have work-related accidents or occupational diseases; coordinate with enterprises to improve working conditions, improve the quality of meals, and take care of workers' health.
At An Hung Joint Stock Company (Tuy Hoa City), Workers' Month is always organized with innovative, rich and approachable content. Mr. Phan Dinh Hong - Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - shared: "The activities during Workers' Month have brought joy and cohesion between union members and workers with the enterprise and the Trade Union organization, contributing to building a strong and comprehensive workforce and development".
Every year, the Phu Yen Provincial Federation of Labor (PFF) has coordinated with the Health Sector Trade Union to organize free medical examinations and health consultations for hundreds of union members and workers, especially in localities and units with harsh working conditions.
Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial Federation of Labor Dang Ngoc Anh said that in parallel with taking care of people's lives, the Trade Unions at all levels have also actively launched a creative labor emulation movement, encouraging workers to promote initiatives, improve techniques, improve productivity and work quality. Thereby, the Trade Union organization has increasingly affirmed its role as a solid support for workers, an effective bridge between workers and enterprises, contributing positively to the sustainable development of the province.
