Timely support from the trade union
Consecutive storms, especially storms No. 10, 12 and floods in October and early November 2025, caused severe damage in Quang Tri province. Areas such as Dien Sanh, where there are 14 grassroots unions and more than 2,500 union members, are seriously affected. Workers not only face financial difficulties but also face many problems in daily life and activities.
Mr. Ho Tuan Binh - Chairman of the Dien Sanh Commune Trade Union - said that in the face of many houses of union members and workers in Dien Sanh Commune being flooded, this unit immediately visited, encouraged and supported. "We have promptly reported to the superiors, then deployed quick and complete support for the union members. The material and spiritual encouragement has helped them overcome the immediate difficulties" - Mr. Ho Tuan Binh said.
During the recent flood, the Dien Sanh Commune Trade Union personally presented 185 gifts worth 255 million VND, each worth from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 VND. The grassroots trade unions also coordinated with enterprises to give over 600 gifts worth 180 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Gai - a worker at Phuoc Hiep Thanh Joint Stock Company, Quang Tri branch - said that her house was heavily flooded, so she could not go to work during the flood. "Receiving the gift from the Dien Sanh Commune Trade Union, I was very touched. This is a great source of encouragement for my family - Ms. Gai said.
Not only stopping at short-term support, Dien Sanh Commune Trade Union also focuses on long-term support. In the future, this unit will implement the program "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" and support free shopping vouchers worth VND500,000 for 500 union members in difficult circumstances, with a total value of about VND250 million.
A solid "support" for workers
According to the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor, during the recent flood, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor visited and presented gifts to 501 union members and workers affected by storms No. 10 and No. 12 worth 650 million VND. Of which, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supported 500 million VND, 150 million VND from the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor. In addition, there are thousands of gifts supported by grassroots unions.
Mr. Nguyen The Lap - Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor - said that over the past year, trade unions at all levels have organized a series of activities to care for union members. To date, trade unions at all levels have supported 32,583 workers. Of which, the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor has supported 10,768 union members in difficult circumstances, with a total amount of more than 6 billion VND. This is a clear demonstration of the determination of the trade union in caring for and protecting the rights of workers.
The program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" is also organized and oriented by the Provincial Labor Federation to organize at the grassroots level, enterprises, mobilizing resources to care for union members during Tet. These activities have contributed to connecting labor relations between union members, trade unions and enterprises, creating a harmonious and stable working environment.
Looking back at the damage caused by floods, trade unions are not only an organization to protect the rights of workers but also a solid "backbone" when natural disasters occur.
