On December 24, Emulation Cluster No. 9 (Cluster 9) of the Federation of Labor of the Southeast provinces held a summary of the emulation movement in 2024 in Vung Tau City.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of Vietnam Confederation of Labor attended the conference.
In the role of cluster leader, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Federation of Labor reported on the results of the Union's activities in 2024 with both advantages and challenges.
Although Cluster 9 still has some limitations such as many businesses having their orders cut; the number of work accidents is still high; social insurance debt is still present... and the general impact from the world situation. However, Cluster 9 has made efforts to implement and complete 92% of the assigned targets; in which 2 units have achieved and exceeded 100% of the targets.
Binh Phuoc Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 16/16 targets; Tay Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 15/15 targets; Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 14/16 targets; Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 15/16 targets; Binh Thuan Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 15/16 targets; and Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor achieved 13/16 targets.
To complete the tasks in 2025, Cluster 9 has developed 10 key tasks to implement in 2025. At the same time, it proposed to adjust the union member development target to suit the situation of the regions; have support policies for workers working at union levels whose labor contracts have been terminated due to administrative boundary mergers, rearrangements, dissolutions, and mergers of agencies and units.
"In the work of developing union members, despite great efforts, the locality has not been able to complete the target of developing new union members. Through surveys by functional agencies, the resources for developing union members are currently not enough to meet the development target for next year," said Mr. Le Van Hoa - Chairman of the Labor Federation of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Speaking at the conference, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu highly appreciated the efforts of trade unions at all levels in the Southeast region, which have achieved many encouraging results in 2024, especially in organizing representation, caring for and supporting union members and workers; thoroughly grasping policies and resolutions... and making great efforts in developing union members even though the targets have not been achieved.
"Although some targets have not been achieved, the provinces in the Southeast region have contributed in all aspects, ranking second in the emulation clusters, from the number of union members, task performance... Although some units have not met their targets, they still have made great contributions," Mr. Hieu commented.
To successfully complete the tasks in 2025, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu suggested that units in the Southeast region apply 5 solutions. In particular, focusing on thoroughly implementing the tasks in the annual work program of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; continuing to perform well the tasks of caring for, representing, and protecting workers, paying attention to the subjects of streamlining...
In particular, it is important to focus on implementing solutions to ensure security for workers; grasp the situation and effectively implement the supervision rights of the Trade Union, especially in places where there are signs of violations of workers' rights.
"In 2025, it is expected that there will still be many challenges from the world situation, and the work of developing union members will also face many difficulties..., but hopefully, the Southeast region will continue to try and make efforts to implement solutions well to complete the task," said the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
