On December 13, the U Minh Thuong District Labor Federation (Kien Giang) held a conference to review Union activities in 2024 and directions and tasks for 2025.
In 2024, the Trade Union at all levels coordinated with the government to support giving Tet gifts to union members and employees with more than 1,600 gifts worth nearly 560 million VND. The Trade Union visited 114 sick, pregnant, and disadvantaged union members; gave gifts to union members in difficult circumstances on the occasion of Workers' Month, visited and encouraged 1 union member affected by natural disasters and tornadoes.
The District Labor Federation launched a campaign to support the "Trade Union Society" fund in 2024. Up to now, it has mobilized nearly 125% of the target assigned by the province; reviewed and proposed the Provincial Labor Federation to donate 4 Trade Union Shelter houses; supported 300 discount coupons (VND 500,000/coupon) for dental treatment for union members and workers; mobilized union members to donate blood in 2024. Directed the grassroots trade union to maintain the revolving capital contribution model among union members and officials, with an amount of more than VND 400 million/month, solving difficulties for 62 comrades/month.
The Standing Committee of the District Labor Federation recognized 2 school models; proposed the Provincial Labor Federation to recognize and attach a signboard to 1 product project "Clean, beautiful - safe schoolyard" to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Labor Union.
The Trade Unions organized the recognition and commendation of female employees who achieved 2 excellent results: "good at public work, good at housework"; coordinated with the Social Insurance to pay maternity leave benefits to 15 female employees and health recovery benefits to 22 cases.
In 2024, the District Labor Federation collected union dues at over 112% and collected funds at over 127% of the target assigned by the Provincial Labor Federation. The material and spiritual life of union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers continued to improve.
According to the District Labor Federation, the activities of the Trade Union at the grassroots level have made much progress. The Trade Union Executive Committee knows how to take advantage of the leadership of the Party Committee and coordinate with the government to organize and implement programs and activities. Women's activities and work to care for the lives of retired Trade Union officials and employees in difficult circumstances on holidays and Tet are of particular interest.
In the coming time, the Executive Committee of the District Labor Federation will set out key tasks for the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and Trade Union activities of the district to better implement.
Chairman of the U Minh Thuong District Labor Federation, Le Trung Quoc, suggested continuing to mobilize union members to support the "Union Society" fund, building two new Union Shelters; actively mobilizing revolving capital contribution funds in grassroots unions, and participating in contributing to funds launched by the government and socio-political organizations.
The grassroots trade unions need to propagate and mobilize cadres and workers who are the development target to join the trade union organization so that everyone can see the meaning of the purpose and the rights and obligations of union members and voluntarily participate. Gradually increase the number of union members and the quality of activities of each individual and trade union organization, especially economic sectors outside the state sector. Coordinate to organize trade union training for grassroots trade union cadres to master their expertise and skills, contributing to building a strong trade union organization.
