Comprehensive success, improving the lives of workers
The first Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union Congress took place after merging 3 provinces (Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh), evaluating the results of activities in the 2023-2025 period and setting out goals and tasks for the 2025-2030 term, contributing to strengthening confidence and sustainable development.
In the past term, with the results of achieving and exceeding annual targets, the Vinh Long Provincial Trade Union has completed and exceeded many important targets. In the past 3 years, the Union has developed 44,280 union members and established 250 grassroots unions (CDCS) and trade unions. Currently, the whole province has 169,462 union members out of a total of 182,850 employees, with 615 grassroots unions and trade unions.
The Trade Union also actively participates in Party building, introducing 7,425 outstanding union members (253% compared to the resolution) for the Party to consider, of which 1,700 comrades were admitted. The work of restructuring the apparatus was completed, streamlining the organization, dissolving the Trade Unions at the grassroots level, establishing the new Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor and merging them into the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.
Regarding representation, care for and protection of the rights of union members and employees, the Trade Union has signed 474 Collective Labor Agreements (CLAs), of which 460 have many contents that are beneficial to employees. The trade union participated in 353 legal supervision sessions and organized 3 dialogues between provincial leaders with 750 employees, promptly resolving recommendations.
Social welfare programs have been effectively implemented, notably "Tet Sum Vay" and "Worker's Month," with more than 200,000 union members and employees being cared for, with a total budget of nearly 123 billion VND. The highlight is the "Union Shelter" program with 773 houses for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, with a total cost of over 36 billion VND, helping 98 households escape poverty.
The Trade Union deploys a social housing project in Giao Long commune (over 554 billion VND) and a Sports Center in Long Duc Industrial Park (over 60 billion VND), implementing the goal of "housing and welfare for union members and employees". Emulation movements such as "New Startup Group," "Good Workers, Creative Workers" continue to spread.
Building long-term welfare programs
Discussing the direction for the 2025-2030 term, Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Phuc Linh emphasized that the new term focuses on building a strong and comprehensive Trade Union organization. The focus is on representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights of union members and employees.
The Trade Union identified 3 key groups of solutions. First, develop policies and laws, participate in legal documents, guide the Trade Union Law and policies on labor, wages, insurance, housing, kindergartens and cultural institutions for employees. Second, improve the quality of the workforce in the context of digital transformation, propagate and mobilize businesses to create conditions for employees to study, improve professional skills to adapt to new situation requirements. Third, promote the pioneering role in international integration, participate in implementing international commitments on labor, build a fair and healthy working environment; protect workers' rights, participate in policy criticism related to the private economy, support businesses in fulfilling their social responsibilities. The Congress called on cadres, union members, and workers to promote the spirit of "unity, pioneering, innovation, and creativity" to build a strong Trade Union organization, accompanying businesses, protecting workers' rights, and resolutely implementing the Congress Resolution, contributing to the sustainable development of Vinh Long province.
