Workers seek trade union support
Many informal sector workers (free laborers) express their dream of having a solid support in the midst of difficult livelihoods. They hope to be protected in their rights, have a place to share professional experiences and be guided when encountering risks in work.
Ms. Pham Thi Lan, a lottery ticket seller in Long Chau ward, said that every day traveling all over the roads to make a living makes her always worried when it rains or when she suddenly gets sick, the work is really hard.
According to Ms. Lan, when she saw many colleagues in the same profession being guided, sharing experiences and supporting each other in difficult times, she began to yearn for a support. Ms. Lan hopes to join the union to feel more secure in her daily work.
Joining the trade union will help me connect with other lottery ticket sellers, learn about travel experience, ticket management and know how to cope with career risks. This will create more peace of mind and stability in my livelihood," Ms. Lan added.

Mr. Le Van Hoang in Long Chau ward said that driving technology vehicles belonging to the group of freelancers often faces many risks. When traveling on the road and often encountering minor problems, he has no one to guide or support him in time.
According to Mr. Hoang, if he joins the union, he will receive legal support, receive information about benefits and insurance policies, helping his work to be safer and more effective every day.
Mr. Hoang added that joining the trade union also helps him have a place to exchange experiences and share difficulties with colleagues. This will create a solid spiritual and material support for freelancers like him.
Proactively stick to the area
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized: "We consider protecting the rights and social security of informal sector workers as an important task. This is a group that is easily disadvantaged, rarely protected and needs the companionship of the trade union.
In the past time, the Provincial Labor Federation directed levels to closely follow each job group, from motorbike taxis, loading and unloading to lottery ticket sales, in order to understand the specific nature of the job and actual needs.
It is not necessary to wait for workers to come, but to proactively go deep into every corner of life, to understand their thoughts, aspirations and specific difficulties. The establishment of grassroots trade unions must be based on the spirit of voluntariness and bring practical benefits.

Small-scale trade union models have been effective, helping freelance workers see clear benefits both materially and spiritually. Vinh Long Trade Union combines union member development with social security care, such as giving gifts, supporting health insurance and visiting when sick.
These activities not only help stabilize workers' lives but also create cohesion, enhance responsibility and community spirit.
The journey of innovation still has many challenges, but the trade union is committed to accompanying freelance workers. Grassroots trade unions will continue to be established, becoming a common home to protect and protect difficult lives," Mr. Linh affirmed.
