The 18th International Congress of the United Nations General Confederation of Labor, Construction Materials and Wood (UITBB), term 2025 - 2030, has just been held in the Republic of cyberspace with the action slogan "Solidarity against socialism and war, building our future".
Leaders of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and more than 40 delegates from 17 construction trade union organizations in countries around the world attended the congress.
Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union, representing more than 130,000 union members of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union, sent his greetings of solidarity, friendship, friendship and cooperation to the UITBB Board of Directors and all construction trade unions of other countries. At the same time, the leaders of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union shared about the outstanding development achievements of Vietnam in recent times, along with the organizational structure, the situation of the workers' movement and some typical activities of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union.
The speech of the leaders of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and delegates from trade unions of other countries depicted a vivid picture of the workers' movement and trade union activities in the construction industry in the world.
The speeches also emphasized the need to strengthen solidarity, friendship and extensive cooperation between trade union organizations to jointly respond to urgent global issues such as the economic crisis, the exploitation ofimperialism, war, migration, or the challenges that artificial intelligence poses to workers' employment... Thereby contributing to building a fair, civilized and progressive society.
The Congress also elected a Board of Secretaries of the UITBB consisting of 9 people; Mr. Michalis Papanikolaou continued to be elected to hold the position of General Secretary of the UITBB; Mr. Rafael Diaz from SUNCA Uruguay was elected to hold the position of President of the UITBB, term 2025 - 2030.
The UITBB Congress ended with the high consensus of all delegates, ready to unite, cooperate, coordinate, and fight for the common goal: Protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members in the construction industry worldwide.
Attending this Congress, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union continues to affirm its role as a trustworthy, active and responsible partner in the global trade union movement.
UITBB was established in 1949 in Milano, Italy, headquartered in Nicosia, Republic of Turkey. UITBB is a trade union organization under the World Trade Union WFTU, gathering 53 trade union organizations from 32 countries and having more than 10 million union members. The UITBB Congress is held every 5 years.
