Investing in technology, reducing risks from the root
On the first morning of the week at Traphaco Sa Pa Factory (Lao Cai), Ms. Vu Thi Sao Mai - Workshop Manager - inspected the automatic production line. Modern machinery replaces manual work, helping to reduce risks and hardships for workers.
Ms. Mai shared that before, workers had to work directly in each stage, but now they only supervise and operate machinery, bringing higher safety. At Duyen Hai Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company, concrete production is also solved the safety problem thanks to technology and processes.
Ms. Ha Thi Dua - a company worker - said: "Previously, working hard and worrying about injuries, now with machinery support and protection, we feel much safer.
Trade unions accompany and build a "safe culture
According to the leader of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation, if technology is a "hard shield", then the awareness of workers is the "soft shield" that determines the effectiveness of safety work.
At Duyen Hai Trading and Construction Joint Stock Company, every year, workers participate in training classes on occupational safety and health and fire prevention and fighting. The training sessions are no longer rigid but are associated with real-life situations, helping workers identify risks right at their workplace.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phat - Deputy Director cum Chairman of the company's grassroots Trade Union - said: "The Trade Union coordinates with businesses to propagate and train safety regularly, considering this as a key task.
Or at the garment factory of Babeeni Vietnam Co., Ltd., Lao Cai branch - the story of safety is associated with fire prevention and fighting. With more than 400 workers, just a small mistake can lead to serious consequences.
Mr. Nguyen Tuat Hieu - Head of the Electrical and Mechanical Team - shared: "In addition to a fully equipped fire protection equipment system, the business also established a safety team to inspect and supervise daily.
According to statistics, Lao Cai province currently has 6 industrial parks, 21 industrial clusters with nearly 13,000 businesses, creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers. In 2025 alone, nearly 19,000 workers have been trained in occupational safety and health; 100% of machinery and equipment are inspected according to regulations.
Trade union levels promote propaganda during Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health to spread "safety culture" to each workshop and production group.
Mr. Phan Huy Cuong - Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized: Workers' Month is not only a peak but also an opportunity to consolidate a long-term foundation. When each worker realizes that safety is protecting themselves, businesses will develop sustainably.
The Trade Union will coordinate with businesses to organize activities such as labor safety knowledge contests, fire prevention and fighting drills and supervision of safe production processes, and at the same time commend individuals and collectives who perform well.
