With a salary up to 390% higher than usual, many workers consider working on holidays as an opportunity to accumulate finances, serving personal and family plans.
The April 30 - January 1 holiday has been prolonged for 5 years, creating conditions for workers to rest and regenerate labor. However, at many businesses, especially in industrial parks, the working atmosphere is still bustling as many workers actively register to work part-time.
At an aluminum alloy casting company in Ninh Binh, to ensure order progress, the enterprise has organized production throughout the holiday and encouraged workers to participate in part-time work with attractive incomes.
After considering, Mr. Pham Van Hai decided to register to work on two holidays April 30 and May 1, along with Saturday. He spent Sunday resting and reuniting with his family.

According to Mr. Hai, the actual income when working part-time during holidays makes him feel excited. "Normally I get about 340,000 VND, but working on holidays is doubled to about 640,000 VND. The important thing is to calculate based on actual income, not basic salary, so the brothers are very excited," he shared.
In addition to extra wages, employees at the company are also rewarded 200,000 VND on holidays. Thanks to this, Mr. Hai has more financial resources to plan to have fun with his family.
He plans to take his wife and two children to a water park about 60km from home on his last day off. The total cost for the trip is about 3 million VND. "The couple worked extra on holidays for nearly 2 million VND, just adding a little bit and the whole family has a meaningful trip," he said.
Not only in Ninh Binh, but also in Bac Ninh - one of the areas with many large industrial parks - the demand for part-time work during holidays is also increasing.
At Texon Technology Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Dai Dong Industrial Park - Hoan Son), about 50% of the total 2,500 workers registered to work overtime.
According to a representative of the grassroots trade union, the registration is entirely based on the spirit of voluntariness, in the context that businesses have many orders to complete.
Businesses organize overtime work in two shifts, day and night. During the two holidays, workers working day shifts receive 300% of their salary, night shifts up to 390% compared to normal days, and still receive 100% of their full salary.
If working on Sundays - weekly holidays, workers are entitled to 200% salary. Allowances (except for full-time work) are also included in overtime pay, helping to significantly increase total income.
According to calculations, during this holiday alone, workers may increase by 1-2 million VND, depending on the number of working shifts.
Reality shows that choosing to work overtime during holidays not only stems from the need to increase income, but also reflects the proactiveness of workers in balancing work and personal life.
For many workers, a few days of overtime can be exchanged for meaningful experiences with their families afterwards.
