On February 27, representatives of the Trade Union Affairs Committee of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation said that the factory of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company in Hai Phong has 650 workers. Previously, from January 3rd to the end of January 28th, the company notified all workers in the production block to temporarily quit their jobs. For the support block and the business block, department heads arranged and assigned officials and employees to temporarily quit their jobs or take rotation leave based on actual work.
Regarding the regime and rights of employees, people working at Dong Thap Lotus Seeds Purchasing Station are entitled to a strike pay of 3.7 million VND/person/month; working in the remaining areas is entitled to a strike pay of 5,310,000 VND/person/month. Social insurance, unemployment insurance, health insurance and other welfare benefits are implemented in accordance with the law and company regulations. During the strike period, employees keep in touch with the direct manager to be ready to return to work if necessary.
However, after the above time, the company continued to notify employees to take another 30 days off because they still could not arrange production again. Representatives of the Trade Union Affairs Committee said that the company still ensures salaries and Tet bonuses for employees, paid before Tet. The City Labor Federation has also reviewed and subsidized 50 workers of Ha Long Canned Food Joint Stock Company during the Lunar New Year, each worth 1 million VND and many Tet gifts.
Through grasping from the company's trade union, the company is also trying to get workers to return to production in March, but a specific time has not been determined. The City Labor Federation will continue to closely monitor the employment situation of workers to have timely support plans, according to regulations.
According to information from the business side (January 30), the company temporarily suspended production activities from January 12, 2026 because the company's ISO management certification system was revoked according to Decision No. 2026-002/QD-CERT dated January 10, 2026; FSSC 22000 food safety certification (version 6) was suspended. The revocation/suspension of the above certifications leads to the fact that the company's products produced in this period do not fully meet the conditions for quality certification as prescribed, so they are not eligible for circulation in the market. At this time, the company has announced the temporary suspension of production and business activities for a maximum of 14 days to implement remedial and improvement measures to soon reissue the above-mentioned certificates, prioritizing a number of actions such as consolidating the management and administration apparatus, ensuring that corporate governance activities are maintained stably in the current period; reviewing the entire supply chain, while improving and perfecting production processes; developing and implementing recurrence prevention measures, including strengthening supplier control, raw material quarantine, raw material receiving evaluation process, supplementing risk assessment and organizing retraining for employees...
After reviewing and assessing the situation, the company found that the actions to overcome it take a lot of time and subjective - objective conditions, leading to the temporary suspension of production not only stopping at 14 days as announced. Therefore, currently, the company cannot specifically determine the time to continue production and business operations.
