Mr. Tran Hong Thai manages the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

The Prime Minister assigned Mr. Tran Hong Thai to manage the activities of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed decisions on the leadership personnel of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

In Decision No. 345/QD-TTg dated February 26, 2026, the Prime Minister assigned Mr. Tran Hong Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to manage the activities of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology until competent authorities complete the title of Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology according to regulations.

According to Decision No. 344/QD-TTg dated February 26, 2026 of the Prime Minister, Mr. Chau Van Minh - former member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology resigned from the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to be assigned to other jobs according to the decision of competent authorities.

It is known that Mr. Chau Van Minh resigned from the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for the term 2025-2030.

Mr. Tran Hong Thai was born in 1974, from Can Loc, Ha Tinh province; graduated from university in Russia, defended his doctoral thesis in Earth Sciences and Mathematics at Heidelberg University (Germany).

Before becoming Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Mr. Tran Hong Thai held the positions of: Director General of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology; Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (old); Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province; Chairman of the People's Council of Lam Dong province for the 2021-2026 term.
