Workers at a garbage plant in Lam Dong have received part of their owed wages

LAM HỒNG |

With the drastic intervention of local authorities and related units, 35 workers at the waste treatment plant have been paid part of their owed wages.

On the morning of January 8, authorized by the People's Committee of Bao Loc City (Lam Dong), the City Labor Federation coordinated with the Urban Management Department and the People's Committee of Dai Lao Commune to pay salaries to workers and employees at Bao Loc Waste Treatment Plant. On this occasion, 35 workers and employees who have been working at Bao Loc Waste Treatment Plant under Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company were paid their salaries.

The total salary paid to workers and laborers is 505 million VND. Of which, the highest paid person is 30 million VND and the lowest is 1.9 million VND. This is the 50% salary of workers and laborers that Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company owes, calculated from December 2023 to June 2024.

This amount was partly taken by the People's Committee of Bao Loc City from the waste treatment fund of Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company and assigned to the City Labor Federation to coordinate with the Urban Management Department to pay to workers and laborers. Currently, Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company still owes about 1.3 billion VND in wages to its workers.

Representatives of the Bao Loc City Labor Federation and the City Urban Management Department also exchanged, sent words of encouragement and shared the difficulties that workers and employees of the Waste Treatment Plant have encountered in the past time. At the same time, representatives of the Bao Loc City Labor Federation affirmed that they will always accompany the workers to make recommendations to the local government and Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company to continue to ensure the settlement of salary payment rights and social insurance regimes of workers of the Waste Treatment Plant in the coming time.

Representatives of Bao Loc City Labor Union hope that workers and laborers will feel secure and work hard to ensure that the waste treatment plant operates more effectively in the future.

Receiving part of their owed wages, workers at Bao Loc Waste Treatment Plant are excited.

The workers expressed their gratitude to the local government and agencies and units of Bao Loc City for always accompanying and caring for protecting their legitimate rights and interests.

Workers and laborers also hope to continue to receive the attention, companionship and sharing of the local government, the functional agencies of Bao Loc City and the Board of Directors of Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company. From there, the remaining salary and insurance that Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company still owes to workers and laborers will be paid soon.

As reported by Lao Dong, according to the inspection results of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Lam Dong province, from December 2023 to the end of August 2024, Friendly Green Environment Joint Stock Company owed the salaries of nearly 60 workers with an amount of 1,886 billion VND.

The company also did not pay social insurance for its employees, amounting to VND427 million. This has caused many difficulties for the workers and laborers here; at the same time, it has affected the waste treatment activities of the factory in recent times.
