Workers find new jobs because they want to work overtime and earn higher income

Hanoi - In early June, the recruitment area near Thang Long Industrial Park (Dong Anh district) was bustling with workers coming to find jobs.

Among them, Mr. Nguyen Van Luong (born in 1999, from Phu Tho) stops in front of the recruitment information board of a company specializing in manufacturing electronic components. Holding the documents, Mr. Luong said that the top criterion when choosing a job is: "Must work overtime, income must be over 10 million VND per month".

Previously, Mr. Luong worked as a worker in a company in Quang Minh Industrial Park (Me Linh district, Hanoi). Although his work is regular and his environment is stable, his income is only 8 million VND per month.

With that salary, after deducting the expenses for rent, food, and travel, the money sent back to the countryside for parents and younger sister is not worth much.

"After working for a long time without much leftover, I decided to quit and find a new job. Now, priority is given to companies with many overtime shifts, with an income of 10 to 12 million VND to stay long-term" - Mr. Luong shared.

Without a professional degree, after finishing high school, Mr. Luong left his hometown to work in Hanoi.

His journey is a series of consecutive manual work, from serving at a restaurant, driving a motorbike taxi to being a production worker.

"I am not afraid to work hard, as long as I have a stable job and income to take care of my family. If the company requires me to work at night or work overtime, I will try to arrange it, he said.

Mr. Luong's situation is not unique. In the recruitment area, many young workers like him also share the goal of finding a job with a higher income, willing to work overtime to improve their lives.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (24 years old, from Nam Dinh) - who just left a mechanical workshop after 6 months of work said: "Before, I worked a heavy job with a salary of only 7 million VND. Seeing many friends changing to work as workers in this industrial park, working overtime regularly, earning more than ten million VND, I also wanted to try it."

According to a recruiter at Thang Long Industrial Park, the trend of workers looking for jobs with the criteria of "overtime" is becoming more and more popular.

The reason is that the current basic salary is not enough to cover the increasingly expensive cost of living in the city. Many candidates who apply immediately ask about overtime and overtime policies. They accept high-intensity work if their income is worthy, he said.

However, relying on overtime to increase income also has many potential risks. When orders decline, many businesses cut working hours, and workers lose significant additional income.

It is noted that many businesses recruit workers with attractive incomes, up to 13 million VND/month.

Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. is recruiting workers with a basic salary of VND 5,750,000. Travel allowance is 100,000 VND, family care allowance is 350,000 VND, diligence allowance is 200,000 VND, and additional work allowance is 1,900,000 VND. Total income is from 9-13 million VND/month.

In particular, the company rewards new workers who have started working until the first month with 3 million VND; the second, third and fourth months with 2 million VND; the fifth month with 1 million VND; the sixth month with 2.2 million VND.

Yasufuku Vietnam Co., Ltd. hires machine operators with an income of up to 12 million VND. This company requires workers who have graduated from junior high school or higher to receive travel allowances, inflation, position, diligence, seniority, donation, leave... Additional work is 150%, 200%, 270%, 390%... salary according to regulations.
