Workers prioritize work near home
Recently, many workers have tended to return to their localities to work to reduce living costs, stabilize finances, and conveniently take care of their families and stick with them for a long time.
Ms. Thach Thi Kim Hoa, residing in Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province, said that she had just applied to work at Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production Joint Stock Company (Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province) for more than a week.
She has worked in Ho Chi Minh City for more than 10 years, but increasing living costs have made life difficult. Rent increases by about 100,000 VND per month, while gasoline prices and food and living expenses also increase simultaneously.
It is estimated that the total cost each month increases by about 1 million VND, making the accumulation almost negligible. From that reality, I decided to return to my locality to work at Lefaso to save costs and have conditions to be closer to my family," Ms. Hoa added.

Also choosing to work near home, worker Le Thanh Hau, residing in Dong Thanh ward, Vinh Long province, said that his house is less than 5km from Binh Minh Industrial Park, so travel is very convenient.
According to Mr. Hau, after many years of working in Binh Duong, the accumulated amount is insignificant due to high living costs, especially rent and travel. Knowing that Ty Bach Co., Ltd. recruits garment workers, he is skilled, so he applied to work immediately, not through apprenticeship or probation.
With an income of more than 8 million VND per month thanks to seniority, working near home helps save many expenses. Working near home not only reduces costs but also helps to be proactive in time and take better care of the family than before," Mr. Hau added.
Orders increase, labor demand is high
Ms. Lam Thi Ngoc Ha - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Ty Bach Co., Ltd. said that after Tet, the company's order volume increased sharply. The enterprise needs to recruit about 500 more workers to meet production needs.
According to Ms. Ha, after more than a month of recruitment announcements, the number of recruited workers is still modest, only reaching more than 100 people. Most of the new workers are local people such as Cai Von, Binh Minh, and Dong Thanh wards because the distance from home to the company is close.
Working near home helps workers save travel and living expenses, thereby being more attached to the business for a longer time. In addition, the company also has many preferential policies such as seniority according to skills, train and bus regimes, maternity and overnight allowances.
Workers working in the night shift are entitled to 150% of their salary and allowances from 75,000 to 150,000 VND per night," Ms. Ha added.

Mr. Le Duy Khuong, General Director of Lefaso Tra Vinh Company, said that each day the enterprise produces about 17,000 to 18,000 pairs of shoes with nearly 3,000 workers, but the demand for orders is 20% higher, so currently the enterprise needs to recruit about 500 garment workers, but has only recruited more than 150 people in the past time.
According to him, most of the recruited workers are local people, because working near home helps them save costs and stabilize their lives for a long time. "The trend of workers choosing jobs near their residence not only helps reduce financial pressure but also contributes to helping businesses retain workers more sustainably," Mr. Khuong added.
