A prosperous life thanks to labor export

In Ha Tinh, many families have a prosperous and spacious life thanks to working under labor contracts abroad.

Quite a success thanks to working in Korea

In Co Dam commune, especially in the area of Cuong Gian commune (old), most of the houses of the people are 2-3 floors spacious, with cars and many expensive properties and amenities.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hang Nga (born in 1986, residing in Nam Moi village, Co Dam commune) lives in a spacious 3-storey house - said that her family built this house in 2023 for about 3 billion VND.

"Fortunately, I used to go abroad and send money to buy land when the price was still cheap. In 2010, I bought a piece of land for only 280 million VND. Now there is no such price. The house next to it has just sold a plot like mine for more than 7 billion VND" - Ms. Nga confided.

Ms. Nga said that after graduating from high school, in March 2007, she went to work abroad in Korea. After 3 years, she met Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1984), who was from the same hometown, and got married and had children. When her child was quite strong, she sent him to an acquaintance to take home to take care of by her grandparents, while she continued to stay and work with her husband.

5 years later, she gave birth to her second child in Korea, and in 2020, she became pregnant with her third child, the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her work was affected, so Ms. Nga returned home to have children and stayed at home until now. Her husband is still working in Korea.

"At that time, on average, my monthly income in Vietnamese money was about 30 million VND. My husband spends about 40 million VND a month, Ms. Nga said.

According to Ms. Nga, in this Nam Moi village, up to 90% of children go to work abroad. In particular, they mainly go to Korea, Taiwan (China), Japan... Therefore, today, those who come to this land can easily see that the village and hamlet are mainly the elderly and children.

Deposit money to buy land in many places

According to Ms. Nga, in this Co Dam commune, those who go to work abroad after having capital send money back to the country to invest in buying real estate in many different provinces and cities. Real estate prices have continuously increased in recent times, causing many people to profit big, become rich, and have a prosperous life.

Near Ms. Nga's house, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (born in 1982, residing in Nam Moi village, Co Dam commune) also traveled abroad to Korea on 2 trips for a total of 11 years. In 2019, he returned home.

"After returning home, I worked as a worker for a Korean company in Ho Chi Minh City, but then saw that my income was not much better than when I was working in Korea, so I quit my job and returned to my hometown to open a coffee shop" - Mr. Tuan shared.

However, according to Mr. Tuan, opening a coffee shop does not earn as much as a few or three months' salary in Korea.

"The situation of doing business at home is not profitable, I am considering going on another labor export trip" - Mr. Tuan confided.

On November 7, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Co Dam commune - said that currently in Co Dam commune, there are nearly 7,000 people going to work abroad in many countries. Of which, the number of people working in Korea is very large.

According to Mr. Tuan, thanks to the labor market, the income is good and stable, and the lives of the people here improve, the high-rise houses are constantly built, and the houses have cars and many other valuable assets. In addition, they also invest in business and buy real estate in many places.

According to data from the Department of Labor - Employment of the Ha Tinh Department of Home Affairs, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole Ha Tinh province has 10,011 people going abroad to work under labor contracts. Of which, 7,263 are male and 2,748 are female. These people work mainly in Taiwan (China), Japan, and South Korea.
