From practical gifts to meaningful Tet cakes
Looking back at the journey of caring for union members and workers (ĐV, NLĐ) in Can Tho, the "Tet Sum vay" program has affirmed the value of a proactive and practical "social security net". The companionship of the Trade Union organization not only helps workers overcome difficult times but also adds motivation for them to stick with and contribute long-term to the business.
Accordingly, every year, every spring, the Can Tho Trade Union is busy preparing for activities to implement the Tet Sum vay program. Most recently, the Tet Sum vay - Spring Gratitude to the Party 2026 season has left deep aftertastes thanks to innovation and strong orientation towards grassroots levels. The focus of the series of activities is the "Trade Union Tet Market" model directly organized at Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park (Thanh Xuan commune).
Not only are there booths selling products at preferential prices, serving the shopping needs of union members and workers, the program also awarded more than 20,000 Tet gifts of gratitude to union members in difficult circumstances.
As a union member who received gifts at the program, Mr. Tran Luc (worker of Hung Phu 2B Industrial Park), emotionally recalled: "Besides cash, the necessities I received were also very necessary during the Tet holidays. Thanks to the Trade Union's care, my family's recent Tet was considered warm, full and complete.
Notably, the value of the series of events under the program also lies in recreating spiritual life, bringing laughter to union members and workers after a year of diligent production. Typical examples such as the "Traditional Tet cake wrapping" contest, the "Trade Union New Year's Eve Meal" exhibition contest or the "Worker Smile" photo contest... have truly connected people far from home to get closer to each other.
As one of the people who directly wrapped banh tet, Ms. Le Diem My (worker at Lac Ty II Co., Ltd.) shared: "This is a rare opportunity for women to gather, reunite and look back on the past year. The contest not only helps us relieve stress but also adds motivation to excitedly produce.
Ms. Luu Thu Thuy - Chairwoman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Can Tho University of Technology and Engineering, said that the contest has profound humanistic meaning when banh tet cakes will be transferred to workers' dormitories.
When knowing that these cakes will be sent to workers in difficult circumstances to welcome a reunited Tet, the teachers become even more enthusiastic, everyone tries to wrap them skillfully to share love," Ms. Thuy said.
More Tet Reunion seasons
The success of the Reunion Tet season in 2026 continues to be a milestone affirming the effectiveness of the care programs of the Trade Union organization.
Looking back at the 2023 - 2025 period of Can Tho Trade Union, the annual Tet Sum vay program has gone far beyond the framework of a normal gift-giving activity, becoming a social security brand, a strong bond connecting union members, workers, trade union organizations and businesses in the city. The proof is that nearly 300,000 union members and workers have been supported and given Tet gifts with a budget of up to more than 125 billion VND.
Promoting those results, entering a new phase, Can Tho Trade Union identifies one of the key tasks as well performing the task of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. At the same time, organize practical activities to care for the interests and welfare of union members and workers; promptly support cases of difficult circumstances, serious illnesses, and work accidents.
In particular, the "Tet Sum vay" program will still be a key activity, constantly being innovated and diversified to bring joy and sharing from the Trade Union organization directly to workers.
