After that, for every additional 12 months of contributions, you will receive 1 more month, up to a maximum of 12 months. The proposal of the Textile and Garment Association to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs was agreed and supported by the majority of workers.
Right after graduating, Ms. Pham Thi Yen (24 years old) opened a nail and eyelash salon to do business. However, the job is getting more and more difficult, so Ms. Yen intends to apply for a job at a company. With the proposal that only need to participate in social insurance for 1 month to receive unemployment benefits, Ms. Yen fully supports.
"The proposal to participate for 1 month and still receive unemployment benefits is very practical, suitable for freelance workers who want to try working at a company and seasonal workers like us" - Ms. Yen said.
Explaining her point of view, Ms. Yen said that changing to a corporate environment would be very difficult and stressful. Therefore, she was afraid that she would not be able to work for 12 months to receive unemployment benefits according to previous regulations.
According to Ms. Yen, if the proposal is passed, it will help workers a lot.
"When I want to quit my job or unfortunately lose it, I still have unemployment benefits to cover living expenses and feel secure in finding a new job," said Ms. Yen.
In addition, Ms. Yen hopes that the procedure for receiving unemployment benefits will be simpler and faster. Because she sees many of her friends and relatives having to prepare a lot of documents, travel frequently to the employment service center and wait quite a long time to receive benefits.
Ms. Tran Thi Gam (23 years old, garment worker) said that although she has worked for many years, she completely supports the above proposal: "I have witnessed many of my friends quitting after only a few months of working for the company and then struggling to find a new job."
Sharing more, the female worker said that not everyone who works at the company is immediately covered by social insurance. She recalled that the female worker joined the company but only participated in social insurance after more than a month.
Many people that Ms. Gam knows have to work for 2 months, or even 3 months, before they can participate in social insurance. Therefore, according to the female worker, although they participate in social insurance for 1 month, in reality many workers have worked for more than 2 months.
Sharing more, Ms. Gam said that the proposal is also quite practical if later on, workers change jobs or work in a new environment. At that time, workers will try for a few months to adapt to the job. If they do not meet the requirements, they are still eligible for unemployment benefits.
According to current regulations, employees who are eligible for unemployment benefits will receive 3 months of unemployment benefits after paying for 12 to 36 months. After that, for every additional 12 months of payment, they will receive 1 additional month of unemployment benefits, but not exceeding 12 months.
