Sharing about this issue, Ms. Pham Thi Thu (the character requesting a change of name) - a primary school teacher, expressed her emotion when mentioning the positive changes in income in recent years.
She said that in 2024, her total income was more than 7 million VND/month, but up to now it has increased to more than 11 million VND.
In 2024, the State both increased the base salary and increased allowances for teachers, making our salaries much better. In the near future, the base salary will continue to be proposed to increase, we are extremely grateful and proud of the profession we are doing" - Ms. Thu shared.
According to the female teacher, this improvement comes not only from the adjustment of the base salary but also thanks to accompanying allowance policies.
She started her career in 2012, and has been working for 14 years now. From an initial salary coefficient of only 2.1, it has now increased to 4.0. She also receives 35% teaching allowance and 9% seniority allowance.
Agreeing with the 8% base salary increase, Ms. Thu hopes for more support policies to ensure the lives of teachers in particular and civil servants and public employees in general.
Personally, I think we should support additional lunch allowances and travel gasoline allowances for officials, civil servants, and public employees. These two amounts also account for at least 5% to 10% of income, even higher if they travel far and often eat lunch outside" - Ms. Thu expressed.
Reality shows that, with the specific nature of their jobs, many teachers have to travel long distances to get to school, especially in suburban or rural areas. Daily travel and meal costs have become a significant burden while income is still limited compared to the current price level.
Not only Ms. Thu, many long-time teachers also expressed their expectations for this salary increase policy.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh (name changed) - a primary school teacher in Hanoi, said that the base salary increase is not only financially significant but also a recognition of the silent contributions of teachers.
We don't expect high incomes like businesses, but we want a stable living standard to feel secure with the profession. When salaries are improved, teachers will have more motivation to invest in expertise and take better care of students" - Ms. Hanh shared.
Both Ms. Thu and Ms. Hanh believe that in the context of prices of many essential goods continuously increasing, adjusting the base salary is considered necessary to ensure the lives of people receiving salaries from the budget.
For long-time teachers - those who have been attached to the profession for many years, this is also a great source of spiritual encouragement.
