Workers have free housing, quality shift meals
At Binh An Textile and Garment Industrial Park (Dong Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company is one of the enterprises with many policies to support workers. The Executive Board of the Trade Union coordinates with the Board of Directors of the company to practically care for workers.
Since 2012, the company has invested in building free housing areas for workers with about 150 rooms (each room is 64m2). The housing area has full functions such as parking lots, parks, sports areas, kindergartens for children of workers... Hundreds of workers living here have saved a huge amount of money in life.
Notably, when workers work at the factory, the quality of shift meals is focused on by the union and the company. The daily meals of staff, workers and laborers are always guaranteed in terms of portion sizes, quality and hygiene. The kitchen is arranged airy and clean, and food processing staff is arranged systematically. When it is time to eat, workers come to the dining area to choose their favorite dish. The food is changed every day, the dishes are written on a board, whoever eats something should choose that dish. Mr. Le Van Cuong (from Tay Ninh) shared: "If you work 8 hours, you eat once, and if you work overtime, you eat 2 meals and 1 extra meal. The food here is delicious, changed dishes every day, eaten like homemade rice".
In addition, the space in the company is built to serve the convenience of workers. There are 4 areas designed like tea rooms for workers to rest. Here, tables and chairs, cool fans, coffee beverages, milk, and soft drinks are prepared. All are free, workers drink water, rest and listen to relaxing music and then continue working. The leader of this enterprise said that the above policies come from the board of directors, from the grassroots trade union. The company's Board of Directors and President have proposed policies to both retain employees and support workers to have a better life and be more attached to the enterprise.
Opening nurseries and supermarkets to save costs for workers
Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. is also one of the typical enterprises with many policies to care for employees. Most notably is the model of a kindergarten that educates children of workers at the company's factory in My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park, Ben Cat Ward (HCMC).
Based on the understanding of the difficulties of workers in sending children, school fees, accommodation rent, etc., the Trade Union boldly proposed to the company's board of directors to build a kindergarten right next to the company. For many years, children of preschool workers have only had to pay a very small fee to go to school, the rest was paid by the company. The kindergarten also has children according to working hours, so it is very convenient for workers. Thanks to this kindergarten, parents who are employees at the company also save a huge amount of money in the context of the epidemic and high prices of goods.
In addition, at the factory in Di An ward (HCMC), when coming to Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., you can immediately see a mini supermarket at the entrance. This is a "Union supermarket model" opened to serve all workers in the factory. The supermarket has all the necessary necessities for the daily life of workers.
Workers can go to the Trade Union supermarket to buy products and goods at preferential prices. In addition, the union also cooperates with the supermarket system, periodically implementing a preferential price sales program for company employees every month or every week. The supermarket will arrange sales counters at the company with items at preferential prices from 10-45%...
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. - shared: Through this model, it is aimed at improving the effectiveness of caring for the material and spiritual life of the trade union for workers. Helping union members have better conditions to ensure welfare".
