Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Pham Viet Dung - Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor said that in recent times, the Provincial Federation of Labor has seriously and actively implemented Resolution 02 of the Politburo, Resolution 06 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Resolution of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union and Congresses of Trade Unions at all levels.
The work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions has been given attention and direction by Party committees and authorities at all levels. Every year, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Trade Union basically fulfills the targets of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Over the past 3 years, the Trade Unions at all levels of Thai Nguyen province have developed 44,819 new union members and established 146 new grassroots unions. In the first 9 months of 2024 alone, 59 grassroots unions in the non-state sector were developed with 13,409 union members, including 2 trade unions.
By December 2023, 100% of grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions in Thai Nguyen had organized conferences to disseminate and implement the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Resolution of the 17th Congress of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Trade Union at agencies and units to cadres, union members and workers.
The implementation of policies to support union members and employees whose working hours have been reduced or whose contracts have been terminated has supported 185 employees whose working hours have been reduced or whose labor contracts have been suspended with a total amount of 257 million VND.
In particular, affected by the recent storm No. 3, the trade unions at all levels of Thai Nguyen province have focused on supporting union members and workers to overcome the consequences and quickly stabilize their lives. Up to now, the provincial Labor Federation has provided the first phase of support to 2,837 union members with a value of more than 3.5 billion VND.
From the Capital Assistance Fund, the Center for Labor Assistance has assessed and disbursed over 10 billion VND to 345 borrowers.
At the meetings, the delegation highly appreciated the positive results of trade unions at all levels in Thai Nguyen province in implementing the Resolutions of the Politburo, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union and the Congress of Trade Unions at all levels.
The delegation also discussed and requested further clarification on the implementation of a number of contents such as building collective labor agreements, supporting union members and workers, developing and improving the effectiveness of grassroots trade union activities, especially in non-state sectors.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that the Thai Nguyen Provincial Confederation of Labor has achieved in the recent past, especially in developing union members, caring for workers, accompanying and supporting businesses.
"The low number of union members, workers and employees who lost their jobs or had their working hours reduced in Thai Nguyen proves that the role of the trade union organization is well promoted, accompanying and supporting to create conditions for businesses to produce stably," Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan emphasized.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor acknowledged the practical proposals and recommendations of the Standing Committee of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Confederation of Labor. These contents will be compiled and reported to the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. At the same time, he requested the Working Group to promptly complete the draft report.
