Before the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, many union members and workers (NLĐ) sent their opinions and thoughts to the Congress.
Mr. Le Trung Liet, Chairman of the Trade Union of Thoai Ngoc Hau Specialized High School (An Giang province) expressed that the Trade Union organization needs to prioritize replicating and upgrading the "Trade Union Home" program to promptly support workers in difficult housing circumstances. Building strong Trade Union institutions, focusing resources on building social housing areas, kindergartens specifically for children of workers and civil servants and cultural activity centers. Taking care of spiritual life and health, organizing periodic cultural and sports activities, the "Trade Union Member Welfare" program and general health check-up packages, free psychological counseling for workers.
According to Mr. Le Trung Liet, the issue of stable employment and income needs to be paid more attention to by the Trade Union than now. "In the context of economic fluctuations, workers are very worried about the risk of job loss and job extension. Trade unions need to pay deep attention to coordinating vocational training, career change and job introduction for workers who have lost their jobs," Mr. Le Trung Liet emphasized.

Mr. Le Trung Liet also proposed to promote digital transformation to improve the effectiveness of Trade Union activities at the grassroots level in the coming time. In which, strongly apply information technology to union member management, collect union fees through apps, use social networks (Zalo, Facebook) as direct interaction channels, receive 24/7 feedback from employees. Innovate the content of activities, minimize formal meetings, instead, integrate Trade Union activities into short thematic sessions.
Mr. Le Trung Liet also expressed his expectation that the Trade Union will be more proactive and active in participating in building and amending relevant laws (Labor Law, Social Insurance Law, Trade Union Law) to maximize the protection of workers' rights from the legal roots. Develop a legal advice network, expand and improve the quality of operation of Trade Union legal advice centers, helping workers easily access free legal support when labor disputes occur or when they are illegally laid off.
In addition, grassroots trade union officials need to be supported in training and fostering skills in dialogue, negotiation, and handling situations when incidents occur. Because most grassroots trade union officials are part-time and receive salaries from agencies, units and businesses, superiors need to have strong legal mechanisms to protect them, avoid being discriminated against by employers, causing difficulties due to the struggle to protect employees. Proposing to increase the appropriate responsibility allowance for grassroots trade union officials to create motivation, help them feel secure in contributing and attached to Trade Union work.
