Focusing on protecting workers' rights
Currently, the Son La Provincial Labor Federation is directly managing 186 grassroots trade unions with more than 12,700 union members.
In the period 2023-2025, nearly 200,000 turns of union members and workers were supported and cared for with a total budget of nearly 150 billion VND. Many practical programs were maintained such as "Tet Sum vay", "Trade Union Tet Market", "Trade Union Meal", supporting union members in difficult circumstances and workers affected by natural disasters and floods.
Trade union levels have supported the construction and repair of 97 "Trade Union Homes" for union members in difficult circumstances with a budget of more than 3.7 billion VND; supported hundreds of union members affected by natural disasters with an amount of more than 500 million VND. In particular, the Provincial Labor Federation also mobilized socialization of 300 million VND to build official residences for teachers.
In parallel with caring for life, the work of representing and protecting workers' rights continues to be emphasized. Trade union levels have organized over 60 conferences to contribute opinions, more than 250 documents participating in building policies and laws related to workers; coordinated to organize specialized voter meetings with workers in Phu Yen, Mai Son, Van Ho, and Moc Chau districts (old).
Many recommendations related to salaries, working hours, social housing, regimes for preschool teachers, and cultural institutions for workers have been summarized and transferred to functional agencies for consideration and resolution.
The work of negotiating and signing collective labor agreements has positive changes. Currently, more than 75% of enterprises with Trade Union organizations have signed collective labor agreements. Many agreements have clauses higher than legal regulations, focusing on meals, wages, bonuses, welfare regimes, sightseeing, and resorts for workers.

Occupational safety and hygiene inspection and supervision activities have also been promoted. Trade unions at all levels have coordinated inspections at hundreds of businesses, detected more than 600 risks of unsafety and promptly proposed remedial measures.
Not only caring for material things, the Son La Trade Union organization also focuses on spiritual life for union members. Hundreds of sports tournaments, art performances, and workers' festivals are organized in localities and businesses. The whole province currently maintains hundreds of art and sports teams among workers, civil servants, and laborers.
Propaganda and digital transformation in trade union activities are also promoted. Son La Trade Union's Facebook page reaches about 70,000 accesses each year; thousands of news, articles, and reports about workers are posted on press and media platforms.
Besides the achieved results, trade union activities in Son La still face many difficulties. Most businesses in the area are small and medium-sized enterprises, labor is unstable, 100% of grassroots trade union officials are part-time, so the time spent on trade union work is still limited. The development of union members and the establishment of grassroots trade unions in the non-state sector has not achieved expectations.
Continue to innovate operations, towards grassroots levels
Exchanging about the orientation for the coming time, Mr. Soi Ngoc Cuong - Chairman of the Son La Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized that the Trade Union organization will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation in the direction of being close to the grassroots level, taking union members and workers as the center.

According to the leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation, in the next term, Son La trade union will focus on improving the quality of dialogue and collective bargaining; promote digital transformation; build a team of trade union officials to meet new requirements; and at the same time continue to spread creative labor emulation movements, contributing to building Son La province to develop green, fast and sustainably.
Responding to Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026, the Son La Provincial Labor Federation has organized many programs to care for and support union members and workers in the area.
On May 12, Son La Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Provincial Labor Federation to organize the Launching Ceremony of the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health and the Workers' Month 2026.
The Provincial Labor Federation also provided support for the construction of 5 "Trade Union Homes" with a total budget of 230 million VND; presented 30 gifts worth 75 million VND to union members and workers in difficult circumstances, suffering from dangerous diseases or suffering from labor accidents and occupational diseases.
In Workers' Month 2026, in addition to the launching ceremony, the Son La Provincial Labor Federation also organized a training class on occupational safety and health for nearly 300 occupational safety and health officials and workers at enterprises in the area.
According to the plan, the "Trade Union Meal" program will take place during Workers' Month, expected to serve about 1,000 workers at some businesses.
In addition, the sports festival for workers in Moc Chau area will be organized to create a playground for health training and strengthen the solidarity of workers.
