Seafarers going to sea for long days get health check-ups before the journey
Viet Thuan Transport Co., Ltd. currently has about 1,900 officials, workers, and laborers. Operating mainly in the field of freight transport by sea and inland waterways.
With the characteristics of workers regularly working long days at sea, health care for workers is always maintained regularly by the enterprise.
Every year, the company also organizes periodic health checks and occupational health checks for all officials and employees.
Each year, the enterprise organizes health check-ups for about 1,440 workers, with a total budget of more than 1.44 billion VND.
In the first months of 2026 alone, the company conducted health checks for 766 workers, vaccinated 379 doses of flu vaccine for officials and workers, with a total cost of more than 126 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong - a worker at Viet Thuan Transport Company - shared that for crew members who regularly work long days at sea like us, health is a very important factor to ensure safety for ourselves and the journey. Therefore, being checked by the company at the health station before each trip makes him feel very reassured and strive harder.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Doan Trang - Chairwoman of the company's Trade Union, the special characteristic of the waterway transport industry is that workers often work far from home, and the time spent adrift at sea is long. Therefore, businesses always put health care and ensuring labor safety first.
Health check-up right at the business
From May 25, Quang Ninh officially implements the 2026 national health check-up plan.
According to the plan, phase 1 lasts until the end of June 30, the whole province focuses on periodic health check-ups and occupational disease screening for about 328,000 workers working at agencies, units, and businesses.
At Texhong Hai Ha Industrial Park, on May 27 and 28, doctors and nurses of Mong Cai Regional General Hospital organized periodic health check-ups and occupational disease screening for more than 1,100 workers of Ecotextile Vietnam Co., Ltd.
The activity is implemented right at the enterprise, convenient for workers, especially those working in shifts.
Workers are checked for vision, hearing, dental and maxillofacial examination, ultrasound, X-ray, blood test and health consultation after having the examination results. The Chairman of the Trade Union of Ecotextile Vietnam Company said that the enterprise operates in the textile and garment sector, currently has more than 1,300 officials, workers, and laborers. Organizing health check-ups right at the workplace helps workers travel conveniently, so more than 1,100 people have registered to participate in health check-ups.
After phase 1, for workers, from July 1, Quang Ninh will expand the program to the remaining target groups, prioritizing people with disabilities, people with meritorious services, people with chronic diseases, people in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, island communes, special zones, difficult areas and people aged 60 and over.
