On the afternoon of July 24, the Can Tho City Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) organized a Conference to evaluate the results of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions (CĐCS) in the first 6 months of 2026; Launching newly established CĐCS.
From the beginning of the year to July 15, the City Labor Federation dissolved 26 grassroots trade unions. At the same time, it has implemented many synchronous and practical solutions, newly established 36 grassroots trade unions and established 4 grassroots trade unions on the basis of dissolving, merging, and consolidating 19 grassroots trade unions. Developed 14,138 union members, reduced 8,945 union members, and actually increased 5,193 union members. Currently, the City Labor Federation is managing 861 grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions with 144,352 union members.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation clearly stated that developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions is not only completing one target, but also a political task of strategic significance, deciding the strength of the Trade Union organization.
According to Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, each union member admitted is an additional worker whose legitimate and lawful rights and interests are protected; each grassroots trade union established is an additional "reliable address" to care for, represent and accompany workers.
The work of developing union members must be identified as a regular and continuous task, a responsibility of the entire trade union system, not just of the professional department or a few assigned officials," emphasized the Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation.

In the first 6 months of the year, trade union levels in the city have proactively surveyed businesses, propagated and mobilized employees and employers to participate in trade union organizations. Many units have creative ways of doing things, achieving positive results.
However, the overall results have not yet met the requirements. Progress in some units is still slow, development resources have not been exploited effectively, and coordination has not been truly drastic, while the remaining time of the year is not much.
Concluding the conference, the Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation proposed that units urgently deploy tasks; within 7 days, complete the action plan and send it to the City Labor Federation. From next month, the Standing Committee will monitor the progress monthly, taking the results of union member development and establishment of grassroots trade unions as an important criterion to evaluate the level of task completion of the collective and the head.
