Actively mobilizing since the beginning of the year
On February 19, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Huong - President of the Hong Linh Town Labor Federation - said that identifying the establishment of grassroots trade unions and developing union members as an important task of the Trade Union organization. Therefore, since the beginning of 2025, the Hong Linh Town Labor Federation has actively approached and mobilized the establishment of grassroots unions. As a result, on January 10, the unit established the Trade Union of Nghe Tinh Fiber Joint Stock Company, admitting 86 union members.
According to Ms. Huong, the Hong Linh Town Labor Federation has mobilized 2 enterprises and workers of the 2 enterprises to prepare to establish grassroots unions and develop union members. It is expected that the establishment of the grassroots trade union will be announced in March.
"Now it is very difficult to develop more union members in enterprises with trade unions. Because many businesses are not currently recruiting more workers, even reducing labor. Therefore, we determined to actively and proactively mobilize the establishment of new grassroots trade unions to develop union members," Ms. Huong shared.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thach - Chairman of the Trade Union of Economic Zones of Ha Tinh province - said that since the beginning of 2025, the unit has come to encourage and give gifts to workers in difficulty in enterprises without trade unions. Thereby, approaching and raising issues with employers, mobilizing workers to join the Trade Union organization. Through the campaign, it is expected that in March, the Trade Union of Ha Tinh Economic Zones will announce the establishment of 2-3 grassroots trade unions, developing about 200 union members.
Great effort is required
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Thach - Chairman of the Trade Union of Economic Zones of Ha Tinh province, the unit's target in 2025 is to establish 6 grassroots trade unions, developing from 1,300 - 1,600 union members, including additional admissions in units that already have trade union organizations.
"There is not much room at this stage to establish grassroots trade unions and develop union members, but mainly small-scale investment projects that use a small number of workers. Therefore, it is quite difficult to establish a grassroots trade union and develop union members. However, identifying this as a big and key task, we will strive and be flexible to achieve high results and complete the set targets, Mr. Thach shared.
Mr. Ngo Dinh Van - Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial Federation of Labor - said that from the beginning of 2025 to now, the Ha Tinh Trade Union has newly established 2 grassroots unions, developing 138 union members. They are the Trade Union of Nghe Tinh Fiber Joint Stock Company in Hong Linh town and the Trade Union of Phu Nhan Nghia Private Kindergarten in Ky Anh district.
According to Mr. Van, the work of establishing grassroots unions and developing union members has been directed by the Ha Tinh Labor Federation and has been planned since the beginning of the year.
In 2024, Ha Tinh Trade Union established 33 new grassroots trade unions (reaching 112% of the number of grassroots trade unions), of which 11 grassroots trade unions had over 25 union members (reaching 100% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor); newly developed 5,656 union members (reaching 140% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor). In 2025, the Ha Tinh Provincial Federation of Labor set a target of establishing 40 new grassroots unions and developing 5,000 new union members.
