On the morning of February 19, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a conference to collect comments on the report on the situation of labor relations and the results of caring for union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2025.
The conference was held in person and online. Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor chaired.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang - Deputy Head of the Department of Legal Policy and Labor Relations (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor), activities to care for the Lunar New Year 2025 will continue to be organized at 4 levels of trade unions, focusing on the grassroots. Priority care is given to union members and workers (DV, NLD) who are in special difficult circumstances, have had work accidents, occupational diseases, are victims of poverty risks, natural disasters, floods; union members and NLD who are underemployed or unemployed; union members and NLD who are policy beneficiaries, ethnic minorities or have not had the opportunity to return home to reunite with their families for many years during the Lunar New Year; EU, NLD who do not return home for Tet to work and produce.
The program "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" was held in a joyful and exciting atmosphere to celebrate the founding day of the Vietnam Communist Party. Depending on the situation at the grassroots level, the "Tet Sum Vay - Xuan Ung Deng" program is associated with the "Union Tet Market 2025" program to serve the needs of both Spring, New Year's Eve and Tet shopping of union members and employees.
Cultural and artistic activities, visits, organizing folk games, cooking competitions, flower arranging, decorating for Tet, free health consultation, legal advice, gifts, train tickets, bus tickets, giving "Union Shelter" houses... to union members and employees also took place enthusiastically and simultaneously.
These activities have created a joyful and warm atmosphere, deepening the solidarity and cohesion between the Trade Union organization and the Union members and employees. The activities of the Trade Union organization to care for Tet create a spread, attract, and connect the participation and active support of authorities at all levels, enterprises and the whole society.
According to reports from localities and units, during the 2025 Lunar New Year, nearly 11.35 million union members, employees and relatives have benefited from the care of the Trade Union organization (an increase of 9.25% compared to 2024, with a total budget of over VND 7,812 billion (an increase of 9% compared to 2024). In which: Union financial resources are VND 3,857 billion; socialized resources are VND 3,955 billion (accounting for more than 50% of the total care amount).
According to reports from localities and units before, during and after the 2025 Lunar New Year (numbers for December 2024 and February 10, 2025), there were 9 labor disputes nationwide, with collective work stoppages in 5 provinces and cities, down 6 times compared to the same period in 2024. The collective suspensions occurred mainly in FDI enterprises (China, Korea, 6/9 enterprises). The collections have decreased in both scale and complexity. The main reason for labor disputes and work stoppages is that employees do not agree with the enterprise's Tet bonus, do not agree with changing the way of calculating salaries and bonuses...
As soon as a dispute arises and collective work is stopped, trade unions at all levels have proactively and promptly coordinated with relevant agencies to directly guide and support the parties in resolving the dispute. In general, through the process of dialogue and negotiation between employers and the employees with the support, guidance and witnessing of trade unions at all levels and authorities, most of the requirements of employees have been partially resolved by the employer, after which the employees have returned to normal work, and the rights of employees are guaranteed.

Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has drafted a report on the situation of labor relations and the results of caring for union members and workers during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
Mr. Phan Van Anh suggested that, based on this draft, delegates give their opinions on the results; on the shortcomings and limitations in the implementation process; resources for care, recommendations... to complete the report, thereby advising and proposing to the Presidium of the General Confederation of Labor to have better care plans for members and employees in the coming Tet holiday.
