On the afternoon of September 23, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation organized a workshop "Improving the efficiency of union member development and establishing grassroots trade unions in Hai Phong industrial parks in the current period".
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet - Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation said that developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions is a fundamental task of the Trade Union organization, contributing to improving the capacity to represent, care for and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress set out the requirement to expand the number of union members, while improving the quality of operation and sustainability of the Trade Union organization at the grassroots level.
For Hai Phong, the above requirement is even more meaningful as the city continues to expand its industrial development space, attracting many new projects, businesses and jobs. The labor market fluctuates rapidly, the recruitment demand is large, and the competition to attract and retain workers is increasingly clear.
In that context, the gathering of workers into the Trade Union organization cannot only be based on propaganda and mobilization, but must be affirmed by the effectiveness of representation, practical benefits, results of dialogue and negotiation, and the ability to promptly protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
At the workshop, delegates focused on exchanging views on investment trends, production expansion, recruitment and labor fluctuations in industrial parks and economic zones; experience in propagating and mobilizing workers to join the Trade Union right from the time they enter the enterprise.
The presentations also shared experiences in establishing grassroots trade unions, creating consensus among workers and businesses; solutions to manage increased and decreased union members, compensating for the decrease in the number of union members in the context of workers frequently quitting or changing jobs.
Through the workshop, delegates agreed on many contents to remove difficulties, improve the efficiency of union member development and establish grassroots trade unions, contributing to building an increasingly strong Trade Union organization, better meeting the requirements of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
