The company hired another business to prepare and organize meals at Noi Hoang Soccer Field - Noi Hoang Commune, Bac Giang City, with 1,160 participants.
The meal includes: seafood soup, steamed king prawns with coconut water, rare veal with lemon, fried squid with butter, grilled chicken with honey, grilled catfish with galangal and fermented rice and vegetable rolls, seafood spring rolls with avocado cream, sour catfish soup, stir-fried vermicelli with seafood, BBQ ribs, vegetable salad with sesame sauce, banana flower and pig ear salad, shrimp and pork spring rolls, white rice, grapes for dessert, soft drinks.
On the morning of October 21, dozens of company workers with symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, frequent diarrhea, dizziness, and fever were taken to Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital and Tan Dan General Hospital for emergency care and treatment.
Immediately after the incident, the Bac Giang Provincial Industrial Parks Health Center presided over and coordinated with the Health Department, Bac Giang City Health Center, Shinsung Vina Limited Liability Company... to investigate and collect information about the food facility that provided the October 20 lunch and assess food safety conditions (according to the contract signed between the units). The Provincial Disease Control Center deployed to collect samples for testing to find the cause; the Provincial Industrial Parks Health Center, Bac Giang City Health Department are investigating and collecting samples of stored food (if any).
As of 11:15 a.m. on October 21, 46 workers were being treated at hospitals.
On the afternoon of October 21, speaking with reporters, Mr. Bui Van Khuoc - Chairman of the Labor Federation of Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province - said that the City Labor Federation directed the grassroots trade unions to continue to grasp the health status of union members and workers; count and report the number of workers who had to be hospitalized; propagate union members to monitor their health status, if they have symptoms of abdominal pain, they should go to the company's health department for monitoring and timely treatment.
The Chairman of the Bac Giang City Labor Federation updated information that as of 3:00 p.m. on October 21, most of the workers had been discharged from the hospital.
